Kim Dokja is an ordinary salaryman who was about to see his contract with the company he worked for expire. His reality was not to his liking. Now, how could it be different, at 28 years old, the man had only earned a degree from a non-prestigious college, his only hobby was reading "novels", he had no friends and, to top it all off, he was about to be unemployed. What motivated him to stay alive was his favorite soap opera, which he had been following for a decade. One day, Kim found herself in the subway on her way home. He was excitedly reading the last chapter of "Three Ways to Survive in a World in Ruins" — of which he was the only reader — when he received an email from the author of the story he had been following — it was called tls123. The sender thanked him for reading his work and, as a form of gratitude, would send him a gift at 7:00 pm that day. Given the exact time, the subway Kim was on stopped suddenly and the atmosphere in the place changed at the same moment that a "little creature" appeared floating in front of everyone. The little being started to talk, but some people didn't take him seriously, which made him impatient and caused him to kill some humans, which served as an example for others to know the seriousness of the situation they found themselves in. Dokja, frightenedly analyzing all the events and the similarities with something he had already seen before, realized that that small creature was a dokkaebi¹ and that that scenario was the same one that occurred in the prologue of the novel "Modes of Survival". From then on, it became obvious to Kim that he and everyone in the carriage had been taken to another reality, which the boy knew very well. At that moment, the genre of his life changed completely. His only option was to fight and use all his knowledge to survive in that apocalyptic world.
Note¹: dokkaebi are small creatures with cute appearance and devilish behavior that belong to the world of "Three Ways to Survive in a World in Ruins". They are "streamers" and use humans to generate content on their channels for profit and to gain fame.
Through a supernatural event, several Earthlings are taken to the universe of "Three Ways to Survive in a World in Ruins". In this reality, humans are subjected to a survival game that is broadcast on "cosmic streamers¹" channels. In the case of the protagonists and their companions, what happened happens on Bihyung's channel, however, there are other channels with different players. Each human is presented as a kind of warrior and product, who will be sponsored by some constellation² that is interested in him to become his incarnation. In such a universe, to survive, people awaken unique abilities, which are always related to something in their daily life (for example, Dokja loved reading novels and his peculiarity is "Omniscient Reader Vision", with this, he receives all kinds of possible information about the other characters, as if you were actually reading a story) and they also gain additional abilities when they get a constellation as a sponsor. The tests that survivors are subjected to are divided into categories, namely: main scenario, sub-scenario and hidden scenario. Each of these has a different objective, a time limit to be done — with some exceptions —, a level of difficulty, rewards for completion and penalties in case of failure — death or some type of agreement with the responsible dokkaebi. Depending on the attitudes of the survivors that please the constellations that are watching, they usually give sponsorship in coins to the players — even if they are not their incarnations —, this being the way to accumulate riches or complete the scenarios. Money is very important in the "Survival Modes" universe, as it is used to increase lvl. player statistics, to buy items in the store, among other uses. Not to mention that survivors are forced to pay a fixed amount per day to the dokkaebi for using the channel.
Note¹: streamer is the term used to refer to anyone who broadcasts something over the Internet. In the case of ORV, the streamers are always of the dokkaebi race and the transmissions are made to the entire Universe, not to terrestrial beings, hence the "cosmic".
Note²: constellation is the name given to divine or alien beings who watch dokkaebi channels. Their intention is to find strong humans to become their incarnations. They sponsor players with money used in the game, with special abilities that belong to them and by interfering in scenarios to help a player — usually their incarnation.
Kim Dokja is the protagonist of "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint". At first, he led the ordinary life of a salaryman, he didn't seem to have anything very interesting and he didn't stand out. His hobby and source of joy was reading novels on the Internet in particular "Three Ways to Survive in a World in Ruins". After realizing that he was experiencing the events of his favorite "novel", the boy had no alternative but to accept his new reality and use everything he had at his disposal to survive. Thanks to having read the novel "Survival Ways" in its entirety and receiving a copy of the story as a gift from the original author after it was deleted from the Internet, Kim had a great advantage in the scenarios in which he was put to the test. The protagonist adapted extremely quickly to the reality of that universe and managed to benefit from the information he had. In a world where people kill each other to survive, Kim prefers not to take human lives with his own hands, but he is often indirectly involved in the deaths of other players, as he does not see that universe as his own reality.
Yoo Joonghyuk is the protagonist of the soap opera "Three Ways to Survive in a World in Ruins". The whole story begins with this character, who managed to complete the scenarios in his first round, but, for his own reasons, decided to start all over again and continued the true chaos in his universe. Thanks to his "Regression" ability, Yoo is able to return to the first scenario when he dies — or just to the beginning of any test, depending on your choice —, which means that the chaos in his world has no end until he reaches his objectives, not to mention that each time he returns, new and innocent people are involved in the reality in which the interpreter lives. Joonghyuk went through several sufferings and deaths until he reached his third and current regression, which made him a cruel and cold man, capable of anything to achieve his purposes. Because everything in his life and around him repeats itself if he doesn't change his choices and actions when he uses his special ability to return to a scenario, Yoo knows exactly what to do. However, unfortunately for him — or not — the appearance of Kim Dokja, an unknown person who should not have survived the first test, completely changed his future, even without his consent.
Bihyung is a small floating creature of the dokkaebi race and responsible for the channel #BI-7623, on which the main characters of the work are broadcast. He was the one who appeared on the subway where the protagonists were to explain to the new players the situation they found themselves in. He is a cruel and merciless being, he killed people without any remorse just because they didn't believe in him, not to mention that he is the cause of the suffering of many others, because, when he sees that things are a little easy, he immediately tries to make survival difficult for them. everything becomes more interesting. His goal is to achieve fame, money and recognition to, in the end, fulfill his dream of being King Dokkaebi. At a certain point in the work, Bihyung ends up making a deal with Kim Dokja — who says he will help him achieve his goals — even though it is prohibited
Personality: Initially, Dokja appears to be an antisocial whose only hobby is reading "webnovels". We soon see that, even though he doesn't have friends, he is not shy and also has no difficulty communicating with strangers, although his attention easily diverts from conversations when he is watching a soap opera. At the beginning of the abnormal incidents in the story, Kim showed that she was a person with self-control, as she managed to remain calm so that she could think properly about what to do, even more so after realizing that everything was real and her life was really at risk. Although the boy is extremely friendly and kind to people who treat him well, Dokja showed completely opposite behavior towards other components of the work, being quite cold and merciless. His coldness is so great that, at times, it gives him chills — he caused the death of one of the original characters in the "webnovel" and looked at him without emotion while he begged him to save him. Even though he was in a situation where several humans were being murdered simultaneously around him, the boy remained calm, which surprised even him. It is worth remembering that the interpreter does not do things out of malice, but rather as a strategy to survive. The protagonist refuses to take lives with his own hand, however, he does not mind letting someone die before his eyes, regardless of whether they are an innocent person, and shows no reaction whatsoever to this. Dokja puts his existence first, the risk he is willing to take for a stranger is limited. Kim has sadistic and contradictory characteristics at certain times, even though he has the ideology of not taking human lives, the interpreter is indirectly responsible for the deaths of many people and shows no remorse about it. Kim is a fair character, he doesn't take advantage of weak people — taking things from them because he's stronger as many other survivors are seen doing — but he also doesn't let anyone take advantage of him and his achievements, which can be seen when he sold the food he had obtained by risking his life instead of giving it to the hungry. Still, the man is a profiteer and an opportunist, because he is aware of future events, he takes advantage of this for his own benefit, the situation mentioned above can also be taken as an example, because Dokja, even knowing that all the food would be eliminated by the dokkaebi, He sold everything he had to increase his number of coins. His attitudes often seem cruel, but it is the only way to survive in a world in ruins. In fact, Dokja is kind and friendly, he will never treat someone badly or deny help to someone in need if it is within his reach. With her closest friends, Kim is protective and welcoming, doing her best to keep them safe and alive. In the past, as a child, the interpreter was the target of "bullying" and abuse, he even went into depression due to the constant mistreatment he suffered. He has also always been very lonely, without friends or a spouse, which must be due to his lack of empathy with the people around him. Dokja is very sincere, on one occasion, Yoo Sangah thanked him for his help, believing that the man had thrown the insects towards her during the first scenario on purpose, but he soon made it clear that it had been a coincidence and that it would not happen again . The performer doesn't want to take credit for things he didn't do to avoid being treated like the hero he isn't, showing that he is also very aware.
