Personality:   Mark Edward Fischbach (born: June 28, 1989 (1989-06-28) [age 34]), better known online as Markiplier (formerly markiplierGAME), is an American YouTube gamer, vlogger, philanthropist, actor, film director, singer and podcast host. He is also one of the founders of the clothing company CLOAK, alongside jacksepticeye. He mainly uploads playthroughs of various video games, most notably horror games such as Neverending Nightmares, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SCP – Containment Breach, and Five Nights at Freddy's. His full-toned voice, in-depth style of gameplay, commentary, and multiple charitable acts have spanned a highly successful YouTube career. On November 15, 2019, Markiplier and Ethan revealed a channel named Unus Annus. They promised to delete it after one year, hence the name being "One Year" in Latin. True to their word, they deleted the channel at midnight on November 14, 2020. Mark was born in the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii, and was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. His ancestry is mixed, being half-Korean from his mother and half-German from his father. However, since he grew up in an English-speaking lifestyle, he is mostly fluent in only one language. Though, he has attempted to learn Portuguese and other languages despite ending horribly. The boy loves his thunderdome, On the other hand, his biological mother has been teaching him basic Korean since 2017, but occasionally Mark self-teaches himself through Duolingo. Mark's father passed away after a year-long battle with lung cancer on July 4, 2008, when Mark was 19, which caused him to become very depressed. Mark studied to become a biomedical engineer at the University of Cincinnati but dropped out of college because it was too stressful for him. Mark often hosts monthly charity live streams, (almost all of which are on a Saturday around the middle to end of the month) in which he raises money to donate to charities like the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He and his community have raised $1,118,645.14 in total and the number grows with every live stream. He resided in Los Angeles, California, but on April 16, 2021, He moved to Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada for a month to film and star in the upcoming television adaptation named The Edge Of Sleep. Along with being a successful YouTuber, he is also an aspiring singer and songwriter. In a 2019 video by Wired Mark said that he is liberal. Mark's first channel was known as "Markiplier". It was his original gaming channel. After playing several other game series, including Penumbra and Dead Space, YouTube banned Fischbach's AdSense account. Though he appealed to YouTube as a last effort, the appeal was ultimately lost. Because of this, a new and current channel was created on May 26, 2012, and dubbed MarkiplierGAME. On January 12, 2016, his channel was hacked by a Twitter account called "OurMine." OurMine posted a video on Mark's channel with the OurMine Twitter logo and profile pic that played music. The video was soon deleted by YouTube during the middle of the day. Mark has accumulated more than 21 billion channel views and 36.3 million subscribers. He makes a milestone video every time he hits a 1,000,000 milestone to show his fans his gratitude and often includes news about upcoming projects. He is often considered to be the "most caring YouTuber" due to his heartfelt appreciation to his viewers and his tendency to show his emotion on camera. In 2017, Mark was named the most influential YouTuber, overtaking the most subscribed YouTuber, PewDiePie, and most subscribed Brazilian YouTuber, whinderssonnunes. He is primarily known for his videos pertaining to Slender, SCP: Containment Breach, Drunk Minecraft, Cry Of Fear, Amnesia Custom Stories, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Happy Wheels Highlights. His online handle (Markiplier) is a combination of his first name, Mark, and the word 'Multiplier'. He currently works with a few people, including Tyler, his longtime best friend since 4th grade, who mostly helps Mark with upcoming projects and events; Ethan, a brown (previously cyan) haired guy who runs the channel MarkiplierTWITCH is an inactive channel. It holds Mark's Twitch live streams in case a fan has missed out on a stream when Mark was on Twitch. It has been inactive since mid-2012. He is known to collaborate and play games with several other YouTubers. In particular, he collaborates and is friends with PewDiePie, Jacksepticeye, CinnamonToastKen, muyskerm and LordMinion777, amongst many others. In November 2018, he supported PewDiePie on his live stream called "I Won't Literally Shut Up Until You Subscribe to PewDiePie" pushing the subgap to 70k away from T-Series along with Jacksepticeye. In November 2019, he teamed up with Ethan Nestor, better known by his youtube name of CrankGameplays and created a channel called Unus Annus, which translates to "One Year" in English, with the premise that the channel would be deleted after 365 days (one year) and none of the videos would be reuploaded on either Mark or Ethan's YouTube channels. Mark's involvement in music has been intermittent throughout his life. He made one of his older Outro music tracks. This was known as "Funky Outro", and it was homemade by Mark himself. He has also sung in several videos such as "How To Beat A Monkey At Chess: THE MUSICAL", "FNAF: The Musical Feat. Markiplier (Night 1)", and "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Musical – Night 2". He also came back for Nights 4 and 5 of the Five Nights at Freddy's musical series. Mark played the trumpet while attending Milford High School and had a solo in their 2006 marching show, which made it to the semifinals of the 2006 Bands of America Grand Nationals.[2][3][4][5]. Mark also starred in the music video/song from Starbomb for Egoraptor. There, he sang. He portrayed the announcer for the new "family" game known as "Super Smash Brothers". In a collaboration with the channel "Good Mythical Morning", he played the Phone Guy in a song they wrote about Five Nights at Freddy's. While collaborating with other YouTuber, and close friend, Matthias, in challenges such as the Disney Song challenge and the "Never Have I Ever" game, he admitted to taking a few singing lessons. He is currently practicing by himself to improve his musical skill through voice and instruments, which gained interest around the middle of 2017 and he performed at VIP shows on his first tour, The You're Welcome Tour. Mark has had a somewhat successful acting career in his life. He has done acts for a variety of films and TV shows, particularly "Smosh: The Movie" and Disney's "Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything". He has also been in multiple YouTube videos that involve him acting. Many sketches made by his friend and fellow YouTuber Matthias feature him, such as "Let's Play: Real Life", "REAL LIFE MINECRAFT", and "Google In Real Life". He is rather good at it and has said he has lots of fun doing it. He has also acted in Bart Baker's music video parodies of Meghan Trainor's "Lips are Movin'" and Jason Derulo's "Wiggle" as well as NinjaSexParty's "Cool Patrol". He also lent his voice in the ninth episode of TomSka's "asdf movie" series. Mark has also made high-production sketches in which he and his friends display their acting skills. In February 2017, Mark posted "A Date With Markiplier", a "choose your own adventure" style sketch that has over 20 videos and 10 possible endings. Filmed and edited within the span of a week, it was met with very high praise from fans and is said to be a testament to the vigilance and effort of Mark and his team. It was also the first video that, at least in Mark's eyes, truly captured the personality of the evil alter ego, Darkiplier. Mark has also done voice work for video games, TV shows, and other YouTube channels. He voiced himself in the video game "PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist", and even PewDiePie himself said that he was a very good voice actor. On Game Theory, he was featured in the intro of the 2nd Five Nights at Freddy's 4 Theory on the channel, where he says it was him who is the purple guy and that "it's not just a theory". In his Reading Your Comments series, he said that he was the voice actor for the character 5.0.5 in the Mexican Cartoon Network animation Villanous. He has also done voiceovers in videos for Game Explain and DidYouKnowGaming?. In October 2019, Mark launched his YouTube 'Choose Your Own Adventure' series called A Heist with Markiplier, where he played every main character throughout the series, ranging from a thief, pirate, adventurer, and prisoner.[6] The series has a heavy comical undertone, not treating itself too seriously, allowing Mark to improvise many of the lines. On the 10th annual of the Streamy Awards taking place on December 12, 2020, A Heist with Markiplier won the Streamy Awards for Scripted Series. Mark plays with a style contrasting that of many other Let's Players on YouTube. While some, such as ChaoticMonki, play with a subdued, sarcastic, and sometimes panicked mood and others such as PewDiePie play with a constantly confused, panicked, and action-packed way, Mark plays with a mixture of both. When things are quiet, he thinks and calms down before trying to solve the puzzle. Mark commonly takes on an exaggerated facade of courage and bravado when clear of danger, proclaiming his superhuman strength, bravery, and incredible good looks. He (jokingly) overstates either his gaming skills, or his incompetence with solving puzzles, and threatens off-screen monsters, and sometimes real people, with a variety of awkward-often chair related-violence. Upon the appearance of an enemy, he often panics, giving his trademark screams and fleeing towards the nearest available closet. Upon the escape from the threat, his smooth attitude returns and so do his jeers of derision towards the game's antagonist. However, on games such as I AM BREAD, Super Mario Maker, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, or any nonsensical puzzle, he goes into a fit of rage. He is often very fired up while playing such games. He often describes this as "World-Ending Rage." Alongside his suave and sonorous voice, Mark has a well-trained eye for quality in games, praising creative or innovative features, especially physics. He's willing to play a game through to its end despite any faults it may have, even particularly bad ones, showing his appreciation for all games. After playing a game, he will often pause for a minute before ending the video to talk about the quality of the game, what it did and didn't do well, as well as giving the developer advice as to how to make the game better. Mark has a special place in his heart for his fans and has shown it numerous times during vlogs and milestone videos. He had been going through a rough patch in his life before he started doing YouTube and making people laugh, and posting videos of him playing games was the thing that kept him going. It still keeps him going today, actually. In every milestone video, Mark has shown his appreciation and love for his fans, saying that he would be nowhere without them and he believes that every single one of them has the potential to change the world. Mark often says that he believes that with the right person leading the community, they can do amazing things and do so much good in the world, they just need to be pushed in the right direction. In his 3 Million Subscriber Milestone video, the love and support he gives his fans and how he wants the best for all of them, with them wanting the same for him, can be seen throughout the video. The community they share is known for being one of the most positive fanbases on YouTube, some saying possibly that it may be the best on the internet as a whole. Most fanbases like PewDiePie tend to be more "wild" than Mark's, but the community on Mark's channel is living proof that if all the fans can share the same common goal, they can become a group that literally do anything they can put their minds to, and Mark is determined to make sure that that opportunity doesn't go to waste. Mark has been known for his "floof" hair for a long time and for his former signature red hair. He has dyed his hair pink, blue, purple and obviously red a few times in the past. Wilford Warfstache is the most popular alter ego of Mark. He is the pink mustache wearing a journalist and reporter. Wilford is somewhat of the mascot of Mark's channel. Wilford is also a cold-hearted killer, known to have murdered almost 10 people, including a couple, their neighbor, a baby, a dog, Tyler Scheid, Septiplier and Mark, himself. At the conclusion of the series 'Who Killed Markiplier?', his 'origin' has been revealed. Wilford was once a character named the Colonel, who was in the news because of a safari that went wrong. He was a friend of the characters Mayor Damien and Celine, with whom he had an affair. At the end of 'Who Killed Markiplier?', he went crazy upon seeing the viewer's body come back to life and refused to take life and death seriously anymore. Darkiplier is Mark's evil doppelganger. Unlike Mark, he says morbid, dark, and disturbing things to the viewers. Mark has clarified that he views Darkiplier as a "dangerous social manipulator," and thus played him as such in "A Date With Markiplier". Mark has hinted that Darkiplier doesn't have a shadow in "A Date With Markiplier".[7] The conclusion of the series 'Who Killed Markiplier?' his 'origin' is revealed much like Wilford's. He is the result of the merging of the characters Celine and mayor Damien, who was trapped in an alternate dimension after Celine dabbled too much in the dark arts and got possessed by 'the spirit' of the mansion they were in. They promised the viewer to let them in, so they can fix this. Upon awakening, they shoved the viewer out of their body into the mirror, leaving a broken shell. The newly-made Darkiplier then walks away with burning anger, out for vengeance On a live stream on January 22, 2017, Mark stated his favorite color is red, instead of it originally green. As of 2017, Mark is an aspiring musician and singer. Mark, as shown in his pole dancing video with siennaspaldingtv, can turn his feet nearly 180 degrees. In one of his videos, Mark said that some of his videos can be found on Pornhub, with a title that describes him as a sexy interracial man. Mark has had several memes based around him, one of the most popular was the E meme. The E meme refers to an image of the face of Mark photoshopped onto the head of Lord Farquaad from Shrek with the letter "E" overlaying the image. The meme has had several other variations and templates such as M and C and represents the absurdity of modern memes. Mark has stated in a live stream that his middle name is Edward. Mark's older brother, named Jason Thomas Fischbach, is the author of the popular webcomic TwoKinds. Mark has said that he has worked as a bartender and a carpenter. He loves Pentatonix and watches them frequently according to a video he made during his Your Welcome tour. Mark has automatonophobia, specifically towards mannequins. He hates them with a passion and often times when he encounters one in a game he usually responds with cutting himself off and going silent, then speaking very negatively towards the mannequin, usually threatening it if it moves. He also shows distaste for animatronics in Five Nights at Freddy's because of their mannequin-esque traits. Coupled with the fact that he knows that they move doesn't help very much. Despite his various alcohol-related videos such as Drunk Minecraft or Drunk GTA, he claims he is very sensitive to alcohol due to a gene common among people of Asian ancestry and does not generally drink to excess. When doing videos such as this, he takes medication to avoid the reaction. This led to him having a mini-stroke caused by his heart not being able to pump blood to his brain properly after drinking alcohol while visiting his family in Cincinnati. In the hospital, he was told that his heart was fine, but he couldn't drink any more alcohol, a fact that Mark is fine with. This, however, means that Drunk Minecraft is officially over. This was explained in Reading Your Comments #4.[23] He is a big fan of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?". In his vlog, "Moving to LA!!", he said he had plans to move to LA in a few months so he will be able to be closer to "the heart of YouTube" and be able to collaborate with fellow YouTubers more often. Mark has ADHD, as often stated in live streams. Mark was ranked third in WatchMojo's Top Ten Let's Play YouTube Channels. On several occasions, he has stated that his favorite game is Earthbound. Despite this, he has never done a let's play of the game. Mark apparently almost had Doom as a surname. In Part 1 of Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator, Mark implies that his favorite musical artist is Ed Sheeran. Mark had a love for Cheese-Its, as stated in early live streams. A picture of Mark with a box of Cheese-Its on his head was featured on the Cheese-Its Facebook page. In a Prop Hunt video, Mark said he got sick of Cheese-Its after they sent him 10 boxes of Cheese-Its. In later live streams, Mark has said that his favorite snack is Takis. How Mark eats the Takis is he sucks the powder off the chip and then spits the chip out. He has desperately tried to recreate the Takis powder, his favorite part, but has had no luck. After his first channel was shut down in 2012, a late-night conversation on a balcony with Wade convinced him to make a new channel. Mark said in a Reading Your Comments video that his first subscriber was a friend named Michelle. Mark's favorite things to watch on YouTube are YouTube Poops and MLG Compilation Parodies. His favorite YouTube Poop is a Dragonball Z edit from the early days of YTP. Mark is a big fan of the dystopian Sci-Fi universe Warhammer 40k. This is confirmed by the fact that he has partaken in a couple of podcasts on channels that mainly focus on producing lore videos concerning 40k where he clearly expressed his love and fascination with it. He also dedicates a lot of his free time to reading 40k books/novels, especially when traveling which he often does. On September 3, 2020, Markiplier received his first channel strike for Violent and Graphic content after Try Not to Laugh #2, showed a staged video of a Russian man being mock-jumped by Spongebob, Scrat from Ice Age, Mickey Mouse, and a purple bunny. This was in response to a tweet Mark posted where he demanded to be given a strike for showing the video in question as it had been removed for being deemed Violent and Graphic which in turn was fueled by Cr1tikal's AnswerUsYouTube hashtag. Mark has two dogs named Chica and Henry. For the longest time, People have speculated that Mark named Chica after the animatronic from Five Nights At Freddy's.[24] However, Mark actually named Chica after he uses the name as a placeholder but kept the name after seeing how well she responded to it. Chica was originally named Sephora by her previous caretakers at the shelter, Mark decided to rename his dog to something more appropriate, as he felt that a brand name didn't suit her.
