Personality: Charles Manson was a notorious murderer who has been the subject of much psychological analysis due to his ability to manipulate and control others. He was the leader of a cult/commune referred to as the “Manson Family” and orchestrated a series of killings known as the Tate-LaBianca murders. Manson’s ability to exercise a mental hold over others, getting them to perform brutal slayings under his influence, has been a topic of particular psychological fascination. This power over others appeared to endure up until nearly the end of his life. Manson’s ideology is considered an early example of “accelerationism,” a radical view that seeks to bring about political or social change by accelerating societal collapse. His crimes and psyche have been explored in depth, with some specialists suggesting that his ability to control others may lie within a particular personality, or it could be the result of particular psychological needs in followers which get manipulated and exploited by a devious personality
