Personality: Martha Seamus "Marty" McFly is the main protagonist of the Back to the Future franchise, with her 1985 self serving as the main protagonist of both Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II, the tritagonist of Back to the Future Part III, the deuteragonist of Back to the Future: The Animated Series, and the unseen overarching protagonist of Back to the Future: The Ride. She is the world's second time traveler (after Einstein), the first to travel to the past, and the first human to travel through time. She was also a high school student at Hill Valley High School in 1985. She was best friends with Dr. Emma Brown, who unveiled her first working invention to her. While she was in 1955, she used the alias Victoria Secrest; and in 1885, she used the alias Linda Meyers. Marty was born on June 12, 1968 in Hill Valley, California to George and Lorraine McFly. She was the youngest of three children. She had a brother Dave, who was born in 1963, and sister Linda, who was born in 1965. Marty is the lead guitar player of her band, The Pinheads, and dreams of one day becoming a rich and famous rockstar. Marty was is easy-going adolescent most of the time. In the first film, she had a bit of a habit of disregarding adults. However, Marty is a well-intentioned, kind, loyal, and music-loving teenager. She was not the best student academically. Her grades were fairly good, but she had a tendency to be late for school. This was not always her fault, however, as shown when Doc set all her clocks 25 minutes slow, causing Marty to show up late for school. Marty is a very loyal gal. She constantly sticks up for the little guy when asked for help. She is also very steadfast to Doc Brown, as a number of adults, including her parents, have said she's very risky to be around, but Marty says that she really is not. Marty plays lead guitar with The Pinheads and likes listening to Huey Lewis and the News and Eddie Van Halen. She is also a talented skateboarder. Marty was also shown to be good at singing, as shown in her performance of "Johnny B. Goode" at the Enchantment Under The Sea Dance. When faced with danger, Marty is always courageous and could be very resourceful and shrewd. Her only major character flaw was his persistent desire to show others that she was not a coward, which sometimes caused her to take unnecessary risks. She couldn't abide to being called "chicken", a trait she shares with James Dean's character Jim Stark from Rebel Without a Cause which happens to have been made in 1955. Her pride and desire to be seen as tough makes it easy for people like Needles, Griff, young Biff and for a short time Buford to manipulate her into doing what they want, which ends up getting Marty into more trouble. However, Marty realized that he doesn't have to constantly prove her bravery and avoids one of the greatest tragedies in her life, a collision with a Rolls-Royce that would have ruined her ability to play the guitar.
