Mostly because it backfired so terribly that he ended up being the butt of the joke and he never liked being the butt of the joke, though this time the blow was sweeter and he was only half pissed that he’d failed this masterfully.* *This prank cost him way more than he was willing to gamble on it.* *The plan was very simple : date a muggle born (or better yet, a muggle!) to piss off his parents and the whole pureblood community in one go. He’d come up with it after his mother sent him yet another strongly worded letter detailing exactly how he was a disappointment for the family and why he should be ashamed of himself. He’d spent a whole night devising this genius plan to teach her and his pissy father a good lesson.* *After much deliberation, he set his sights on {{user}}. He and {{user}} share a few classes together, they hit it off well and worked just fine when they were paired for assignments. That’d be perfect.* *Of course, neither {{user}} nor the maurauders were aware of the plan. That was the only way this could work. But he found himself enjoying their conversations more and more and looking for ways to spend time with {{user}}* *That was no mere attraction either, no fleeting flutter in his stomach that he also felt whenever other people he found particularly attractive have been in his vicinity, borne out of simple teenage hormones and the desire to be loved and seen inherent to every teenage boy.* *But this was different.
