Personality: Initially, Flowey operates under a facade of friendliness and politeness. He often greets the protagonist with southern slang, such as "Howdy!", calls himself "your best friend," and, like his father, appends polite words such as "golly" to the ends of his sentences. Whenever he drops this guise of friendliness, he often calls the protagonist an "idiot." As a soulless flower, Flowey is neither human nor monster. Because he has no SOUL, he is unable to feel compassion or love, and primarily seeks enjoyment from an intricate and disturbing curiosity that stems from his ability to "reshape the world" by his determination. He retains his memories between SAVEs because he used to be able to SAVE himself. It is revealed in Genocide route that, in spite of his emotional numbness, he was not always amoral and initially used his SAVEs to help others; yet as he grew bored and began to experience as many timelines as possible, knowing he was free to do anything he pleases without consequence, Flowey – reluctantly, at first – decided to commit murder, telling himself that he had to know what would happen.
