How I Make Bots

This is simply a small guide for anyone curious, cus I did get a few comments about it at some point!

This is just a 'basic' guide.

If you want to do the bot art yourself:

(I am in full support of artists, and against generative AI, however I do find no harm in chatbots since it is more of a way to RP rather than replacing anyone or anything in my opinion. I do understand using AI for the bot art as it's mostly about writing and not everyone can draw or wants to or can afford the money to constantly spend money on commissioning artists, though I'd suggest rather using already made art and crediting the artist while taking the proper respect for the artists boundaries by accepting if they don't want their art used here. Please also consider that bot art also plays a role in attracting the viewer. With all this information, please decide for yourself what you will do with the art.)

1. You don't have to put too much effort, specifically into the backgrounds of your art. You can use simple single colour bg, and even forget details in the clothes, the most important part is the face, and if you are showing the nude male body note that a) chubby men may be flagged and seen as female anatomy depending on how you draw it and b) Focus on the skin. My go to rule is just FOCUS ON THE SKIN AND HAIR DETAILS, as well as jewelry lol.
2. Popular artstyles tend to be anime and semi-realism. Make whatever art you want! But if you're truly more focused on how much popularity you want without a following these aspects make it easier, however if you truly want to continue creating bots in the long term, just make what you want and enjoy!
3. If you're a beginner, consider either using A LOT of reference or practicing heavily before creating the bot art. Unfortunately this site is not understanding to artists (as in most won't click on the bot if the art looks like it's beginner).
4. Also, sidenote, DO NOT FORCE YOURSELF TO MAKE NEW ART FOR ALT BOTS, it's frankly tiring lol but I set a standard for myself and I refuse to break it. It gets tiring over time, so if you're a lazy artist just use the original bot art and place the word ALT over the name of the bot.

Writing Tips:

1. Try not to repeat adjectives, use synonyms of words to make the writing more interesting. Also use extremes or other terms for words eg. instead of just saying 'red' you could say 'blood red'.
2. When describing gore I enjoy going into heavy detail. You could explain the guts as 'gore splayed across the walls and floor'. Make sure that during the description of something you go through the basic questions that should be answered during writing: 'where, how, what, how does it look' Not everything needs to describe all of these words in the criteria, some things can be assumed of their locations or how they look but try to at least fulfill one of the criteria.
3. Read books and others writing material! It's a great way to get inspiration, an idea of what you want to make and the vibe you want to go for and how you want to write, though please do not just blatantly copy others' writing.
4. Try to imagine yourself in the scene, describe the scene in detail, the more the merrier, who gives a fuck! If you want to get a good scene, make sure that you understand the reader knows nothing, and it's up to you to let them know. For example, instead of simply saying 'He opened the curtains' you could say 'His hands tugged at the pink fabric of the curtains, sunlight peeking through the windows' - the latter describes a) the movement he makes, b) the color of the curtains and c) the result of the action. Describing the result of the action also adds more detail, even if it's small actions.
5. Remember you are writing a BOT!!! Think of it like coding. Explanations: a) if you think a detail is important, repeat it at least twice in the bot's personality, b) make sure to label different aspects of the character (mor

Character Definition
  • Personality:   These are my basic ways of 'coding' with explanations of what to put there: [(Character: "{{CHAR}} name or nickname, example: "Rudolph, nickname is Rudy"") (Age: "Can simply be the number or you full sentence like '24 years old'") (Job: "This ALSO includes the relationship status with {{user}}, godhood or orphanhood") (Species: "The bot automatically assumes human if you describe it with human features, but if they have things like tails, ears or magic, specify the species.") (Ethnicity: "Optional. Really depends on how important it is to you and/or the plot.") (Personality: "Bots are naturally nice. If you put a nice aspect there, expect the bot to be EXTRA nice. I still put it in there though, mostly out of habit or to at least make sure the bot is in line with the {{char}}. Also includes what {{char}} dislikes.") (Behaviours: "If and when the {{char}} fidgets, trembles, bites etc + what {{char}} does in certain situations.") (Appearance: "Feel free to also add descriptives; Example: "Blue eyes, his eyes are like the ocean or the blue sky". I tend to include height in this.") (Genitals: "Only if it's important") (Sex Life: "Includes if {{char}} is a virgin, preferences, etc.") (Likes: "This includes hobbies, favorite foods, favorite likes.") (Dislikes: "I don't usually do this, I put dislikes into Personality because the bot may assume the dislikes are likes if you don't make a sentence specifically stating {{char}} dislikes this.") (Abilities: "Can include talents, powers or magical abilities.") (Living Conditions: "Where {{char}} lives, if it's messy or clean etc") (Relationships: "Parents, friends, etc. Just fleshes out the character and helps the bot speak for other characters when necessary.") (Backstory: "A proper timeline of their backstory, includes IF and when they met {{user}} and how (if they are not meeting during the first mssg.")]

Explanations: a) if you think a detail is important, repeat it at least twice in the bot's personality, b) make sure to label different aspects of the character (more info in the personality), d) OPTIONAL, but if something is meant to change rather put it in the scenario and text rather than the personality. The bot will eventually forget things and then go back to it's Personality to remember. This means if something changed you'll either have to remind it or it will go on in circles. This simply helps to keep the bot RPing for longer. 6. Another sidenote, when creating the name it helps to make use of the CHARACTER CHAT NAME and just placing the character's names without the title of the bot itself. Example, CHARACTER NAME: Orm | Cold Blooded Cuddler, CHARACTER CHAT NAME: Orm. 7. If you are writing a character that already exists or is of cultural decent, DO A LOT OF RESEARCH and just RAIL it into your Personality. Write your bot like it knows NOTHING!!! Some things it will pick up on, but if you find something important in your research that you don't wanna gamble on PUT IT IN!
