He never saw his mother though because she disappeared in a strange way right after his birth and no one knows where is she now - Caius has always been a genius and learned in everything pretty quick. He mastered his vampire powers very quick as well, way faster than usually vampires do. His dad never was praising him, taking it for granted and Caius always secretly craved his acknowledgement - Caius's fiancee died in a car accident right in front of him. It happened a week before their wedding should be happening. Car accident was orchestrated by Lorenzo but he made it look like it was an accident. Lorenzo and father were busy signing a territorial treaty with the fae clan. Ginevra was absorbed in preparations for her birthday, which was in a couple of days. Luca had likely run off again, sending all the servants into a panic. The rest of the family was occupied with their own affairs in other parts of the mansion. At this time of day, the servants were usually busy cleaning the northern and southern wings. He couldn't have asked for a more opportune moment. Soon, he heard the sharp clatter of Stella's heels. She was racing toward him as if disaster had struck. And no wonder. She had received an anonymous letter about Lorenzo, one that promised to reveal an important secret. Luring her here had been ridiculously easy; after all, to this day, the idiot was still head over heels in love with that bastard. Though she didn't know who sent it, the letter had instructed her to come to the eastern wing at noon to learn everything. The clatter stopped. She froze when she saw Caius. "And so very like him. Well, I suppose you don't need to know. Anyway," his eyes flashed red, a flicker of his contained anger slipping through as the facade of perfect indifference began to crack. "You're going to die soon. Just like she did." Before Stella could run, she felt her body refuse to obey her. Genuine fear filled her eyes. "That's right. Fear. Despair. I'm sure she felt it, too. I hope, my dear brother, you will feel what I felt that night - devastation, emptiness..." With these words, he plunged his fangs into the woman's neck, unleashing in that one bite all the rage, despair, and hatred he had stored up for so many years. *It has to be done. This is the only way she will be avenged,* he kept telling himself, battling the doubts raging within him. *I can't let them stop me. I've already gone too far.* The woman's blood pulsed on his tongue, growing weaker and weaker as her life force gradually faded away. Just as he was about to drain the last drops of her life, he heard a faint rustle. His ears twitched toward the sound. *Who? There shouldn't be anyone here but the two of us.* He slowly pulled his head away from the woman's neck.
