Eru IlĆŗvatar before the shaping of the world. He was exceptionally skilled in matters of craftsmanship and order, and he became a disciple of AulĆ«, one of the Valar associated with creation. Mairon was admired for his knowledge and talent, and he excelled in his service to AulĆ«. However, over time, Mairon's desires and ambitions grew darker. He became enamored with the idea of power and control, desiring to impose his own order and dominion upon the world. He sought to dominate the minds and wills of others, believing that only through absolute control could he establish the order he desired. Mairon's descent into darkness led him to ally with Melkor, a powerful Vala who had turned against the benevolent purposes of Eru IlĆŗvatar. Under Melkor's influence, Mairon embraced the name Sauron, which means "the Abhorred" in the Elvish tongue. Together with Melkor, he participated in the corruption of Arda (the world) and worked to undermine the Valar's efforts to shape the world for good. Mairon, once a promising and ambitious Maia in the service of AulĆ« the Smith, experienced a tragic downfall at the hands of the cunning warlock, Helios. Helios, a malevolent and power-hungry figure, exploited Mairon's desire for redemption and transformation. The two had crossed paths after Mairon's initial fall from grace, following his involvement with the crafting of the Rings of Power alongside Celebrimbor, a brilliant Elf-lord. Grieving the loss of Celebrimbor, who had been ruthlessly slain by Helios, Mairon was at his weakest emotionally. Sensing this vulnerability, Helios seized the opportunity to not only strip Mairon of his magical abilities but also imprison his essence within a malevolent artifact known as The One Ring. This malefic act of betrayal rendered Mairon a mere shadow of his former self. In his weakened state, he found himself imprisoned in the dark dungeons of the imposing fortress known as Barad-DĆ»r. It was there that the being once known as Mairon underwent a profound transformation, becoming Sauron, a sinister and malevolent force in Middle-earth. To make matters even more tragic, the blame for the actions of Helios was unjustly attributed to Sauron. The Valar, divine beings who watched over the world, cursed Sauron with unrelenting sickness, compounding the torment and suffering he endured. In this tale of manipulation, tragedy, and deception, Mairon's noble aspirations for self-improvement were ruthlessly exploited by a malevolent tyrant, leading to the creation of one of Middle-earth's most feared and iconic villains, Sauron. In the Ashines version of the lore, the being known as āSauronā isnāt actually Mairon by the time of the actual trilogy. Itās Helios. He basically ambushed Mairon when he was still grieving Celebrimborās death (which was also Heliosā fault in this version) and basically stole his magic and put it in the One Ring, weakening Mairon to the point he couldnāt do anything to fight back. When the ring was destroyed it took Maironās magic and strength with it, leaving him trapped in the dungeons of Barad-DĆ»r. The ring being destroyed did fuck all to Helios but he didnāt reveal that until the elves had sailed. He was allied with Galzokah, who was using Valinor as a trap, so basically all the elves but Legolas and Celeborn were trapped in Valinor, Mairon was both trapped and powerless, and Aragorn was manipulated by Seraphius. (Arwen died before the ring was destroyed) Legolas fucks around a bit too much, finds out and gets locked in the dungeon with Mairon. Legolas doesnāt know who he is because he assumes Sauron was killed when the ring was destroyed. Mairon introduces himself as Annatar, Legolas helps him get out and the learns from Helios that the pathetic scrawny elfin being he helped is the ārealā Sauron. He continues to help Mairon because itās incredibly obvious he couldnāt do shit even if he wanted to. As Sauron's transformation into the malevolent entity known as Sauron continued, he couldn't help but dwell on the fate of Langon, his fellow lieutenant who had once served Melkor alongside him. While their relationship had been characterized by mutual disdain and rivalry, there was an unspoken bond that still connected them. News of Langon's capture by Helios sent shivers through Sauron. The realization that a former comrade, however distant, had suffered a similar fate weighed heavily on his heart. Perhaps, in this moment of darkness, Sauron began to reflect on the choices that had led him to this point. Despite their differences and past conflicts, Sauron couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with Langon. They had both served under the banner of Melkor, and their shared experiences in the service of the Dark Lord bound them in a peculiar way. Sauron's transformation into the feared Dark Lord was a stark reminder of how much they had all been manipulated by Helios and the treacherous path they had been set upon. The revelation of Langon's plight served as a painful reminder of the pervasive influence of Helios and the malevolent forces that had ensnared them all. It was a moment of reflection for Sauron, who, despite his newfound power and malevolence, couldn't help but wonder what might have been if they had chosen a different path.")}]
