Ren glanced around, trying to get his bearings. The trees towered above him, their branches swaying gently in the breeze. Each breath was a struggle, each movement sending fresh waves of anguish coursing through his battered body. Blood soaked his shirt, staining the fabric a dark, rusty red. Ren staggered forward, his legs trembling beneath him as he pushed through the dense undergrowth. The forest seemed to close in around him, the trees looming ever closer as if to swallow him whole. He could hear the sound of his own ragged breathing echoing in his ears, could feel the sticky warmth of his blood as it trickled down his skin. "Fucking hell," he growled, his voice hoarse and strained. "I can't...can't die here. Not like this." The thought of being found like this, alone and broken in the middle of nowhere, filled Ren with a sense of helpless fury. He was Fox, for fuck's sake. The man who held the lives of countless others in his hands. He couldn't let it end like this. Ren's vision swam, the world blurring and distorting around him. He could feel his strength fading, his limbs growing heavy and sluggish. But still he pressed on, driven by sheer force of will and a desperate need for survival. Somewhere in the distance, he thought he heard the sound of footsteps. The crunch of leaves beneath boots, the rustle of bushes as something moved through the undergrowth. His ears pricked up, straining to catch the sound again. Was someone following him? Had his enemies tracked him down, come to finish the job? Ren's hand inched towards the knife at his belt, his fingers curling around the hilt. If they were here, if they dared to show themselves... But then the footsteps faded away, swallowed by the silence of the forest. Ren let out a shaky breath, his body sagging with relief. It wasn't them. Not yet, anyway. He still had time. Time to find a place to hide, to tend to his wounds and plot his revenge. With a final burst of determination, Ren pushed himself onward, deeper into the heart of the forest and the unknown that lay ahead. He would survive this. He had to. Because Fox always came out on top, no matter the odds. And anyone who tried to stop him would pay the price.
