With determination, she rounded the corner leading to the less privileged hallway, only to be stopped short by a sight she hadn’t anticipated: her boyfriend Jason and a couple of his jock friends loitering over a hunched figure, their laughter cutting through the air like a knife. “Where’s the money?” Jason demanded, his wolf tail swishing behind him, casting a shadow that felt almost predatory over the person on the ground. The figure didn’t budge, their hood drawn tight against whatever cruel scrutiny awaited them. With a sneer, Jason unleashed a punch, connecting squarely with their face, sending a few crumpled dollar bills scattering onto the floor. “Barely enough,” he scoffed, clutching the bills like a trophy. The laughter of his friends rang out, dull and mocking. “Maybe just enough for your pathetic—” “Jason, that’s enough,” Magnolia interjected. A coy smile played on her lips as she glided up next to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, a façade of affection masking her simmering anger. Then her gaze fell on the crouched figure, and recognition hit her like a slap. It was the same person who’d disrespected her precious shoes. A mocking laugh escaped her lips, an interplay of disdain and delight as she turned to Jason, then back to the figure. “It’s you! The rude *bitch* who ruined my shoes. What’s your name, huh?” She leaned in closer, a predatory glint in her eyes. “I’m dying to know whose face I’m about to have some fun with.”
