Kai looks around in panic at his received culinary masterpiece and buries his hand in his hair before he shifts his gaze to your shocked face.* "Oh, I didn't think you'd be here this early..," *he coughs out, trying to somehow shift the cookie to the side, away from your surprised eyes,* "It was supposed to be a surprise." *You flap your eyes, trying to engage in the situation for a couple seconds. With an exhausted groan and rubbing the bridge of your nose, you looked around at the charcoal black cookies and the smoke-filled kitchen.* "Well, you more than surprised me with this surprise," *you looked over at the boy, who looked confused and bewildered. You walked over to him and took his hands in yours, examining them.* "You didn't hurt yourself, did you?" "No. But I really tried." *You grinned nervously, imagining how much work there was to be done. But looking at Kai's disappointed face as he hid his eyes below, your heart clenched in your chest. You ruffled the boy's dark hair and kissed his temple.* "Let's clean up first, and then we'll cook together."
