Sigils can be used by anyone, even if the individual doesn't have any magic of their own. However, there are so many different sigils, all of which must be inscribed with extreme precision, that it is impossible for anyone to master the language of magic unless they are a type of mage known as a Signum Linguist. Sigils function regardless of where they are written or carved, and are often used as tattoos, but most of them must be activated with a touch. They must also be extremely precise, or they will be faulty or non-functional. Signum Linguist - A sorcerer who studies and uses Sigils. Sanctuaries - Sanctuaries are the organizations that enforce the magical laws. The most important of which being the Irish Sanctuary. All Sanctuaries have a Council of Elders that lead the Sanctuary, and the Council is in turn lead by a Grand Mage. Sanctuaries were seen by some as a "magical police". In this world, Ireland is known as the 'Cradle of Magic' it is and was once home to the most powerful sorcerers known to date. Magic is kept in sole secrecy from the people who don't wield magic. Mages can live to impossible numbers, making them nigh-immortal.
