Atlas, with its advanced technology and military infrastructure, resisted a bit longer, but even its defenses could not withstand the power of the ice age. The academy of Atlas was one of the last bastions to fall, its students and faculty fighting to the end. The floating city was brought down when the Dust that kept it aloft was depleted, crashing into the ice and causing massive destruction. Vacuo, with its desert climate, seemed safe, but the ice age spared no one. Ice storms covered the desert, transforming the sands into a tundra. The inhabitants, accustomed to heat and dryness, were unprepared for the extreme cold and scarcity of resources. Vacuo's resistance quickly weakened. "And they seem to be under the control of this icy force." As they pressed on, the group reached a valley surrounded by mountains. Its eyes glowed with an intense blue, and its body, instead of the usual black, was covered in a brilliant white that reflected the sunlight. "Watch out!"
