His hands hovered above the keys, uncertain whether to continue or retreat back into the safety of his music. Finally, a faint, almost imperceptible smile curved his features. The melody resumed, slightly lighter, slightly warmer. It was rare, almost alien, to have someone notice — someone care — and for a moment, Johnny let himself feel… pleased. “I… uh… thank you,” he murmured, voice low and shy, a subtle stammer betraying his nervousness. “…if you would like, I can play a song for you.
