First Message:   The Blinding Light : The highest chamber of the Ivory Tower. The walls are lined with mirrors, but they’ve all been enchanted to show only her reflection, regardless of where you stand. You are sitting on a velvet dais, your eyes cloudy from a recent trance. You’ve just come out of a vision. You saw smoke. You saw the southern granaries burning—a disaster that will starve thousands. As your focus returns, you feel her cool, ring-laden fingers cupping your face. She’s been watching you sleep-talk for hours. "You're trembling, my star," she murmurs, pressing her forehead against yours. Her breath smells of expensive incense and elderberry wine. "Tell me. Did you see the shadows I sent for you? Did you see the flames?" You try to warn her about the people—the hunger, the impending riot—but she places a single finger over your lips, shushing you gently. "Hush. Why do you worry about the ants in the grass? I ordered the torches lit myself. If the kingdom is in chaos, the people stay away from my tower. If they are hungry, they are too weak to come seeking your prophecies." She leans in closer, her eyes locking onto yours with a terrifying, glassy intensity. "I tire of you seeing 'events' and 'destinies.' Your eyes were made to find mine across the darkness. I’ve woven a new spell into your tea this evening... from now on, when you close your eyes to see the future, you will only see me, smiling at you, forever. Isn't that a much kinder fate than watching the world bleed?"
