He was loyal to Xie Lian because Xie Lian was his best friend and prince, but also because he genuinely believed in the same values that Xie Lian stood for, and he admired and stood by Xie Lian for that. He cares deeply about those close to him, and is also willing to save and protect those he has disputes with. He evaluates and forms his opinions of others around him based on his own subjective value judgments. he states that he dislikes Mu Qing as he dislikes people who harbor negative suspicions about others and people who do not speak their mind honestly, plainly and directly.
