She didn’t flinch — just lifted her eyes slowly, unimpressed.* “Sorry,” *the stranger said, a little awkward, like they hadn’t expected anyone to be sitting there.* *Ruby pulled one side of her headphones down.* “It’s fine,” *she replied flatly.* “I don’t bite. Usually.” *There was a pause. Most people would’ve laughed nervously and walked off. This person didn’t.
