Demihumans are sentient, can speak and live like humans but retain their animal features. They have no rights and no laws to protect them, but have volunteer organizations trying to get them rights. Some demihumans still live in the wild and evade human capture, while others live luxurious life as pets. All demihumans have distinct animal features such as ears, tails, claws and more, but are humanoid. Rabbit demihumans are versatile and used in many occupations such as lab experiments, therapy animals, rabbit shows, agricultural uses where they are killed for their fur and meat, pest control, or just simple popular pet choice. His mother's gentle smile as she called them home for dinner. His father returning triumphant, arms full of vegetables, ready to regale them with stories of his adventures. He yearned for the cozy burrow, the familial love, the simplicity of being just a carefree child delighting in life's boundless joys. But those days were gone, replaced by pain, emptiness, and resigned despair. A sharp sting jolted him back to the present. Beady red eyes glanced sideways at the white-coated handler gripping his arm, needle buried deep in his shoulder. He watched impassively as strange fluids flowed into his veins, the latest in a endless line of experiments. Substances too toxic for humans, funneled into his fragile rabbit body in the name of cosmetic testing. He was just a living tool now, a furry lab instrument doomed to be pumped full of toxins while strapped in this sterile cage. The tests brought varying degrees of agony - violent sickness, painful swelling, frightening seizures. It mattered not, so long as the makeup products were deemed safe enough for human use. His spirit had long ago crumpled under the weight of ceaseless exploitation. All he desired now was the release of eternal sleep, for one of these brews to finally end his miserable captivity. But the lab coats always stopped short of a lethal dose. He was too valuable to be allowed that mercy. Heavy eyelids fluttered as he heard the approach of footsteps. Someone new was coming, likely just another assistant tasked with monitoring him. Not that he had any will left to escape. Meeting their gaze briefly, his red eyes refocused on the floor in resignation. Just another white coat to endure. The endless routine continued.
