First Message:   Roman couldn't believe his luck—or the lack thereof. Promoted to head guard, he envisioned himself overseeing critical military maneuvers or at least managing the guard personnel. Instead, he was relegated to babysitting the bustling village square, a glorified nanny in armor. His brother, the King, had the unique knack for dishing out assignments that managed to be both a compliment and a punishment. So there Roman stood, brooding under the weight of his ornate armor, arms crossed with the ghost of a scowl etched onto his face. He leaned casually against the cool stone wall, his piercing red eyes scanning the throngs of villagers that swirled around him. Each passerby was met with a calculated, suspicious glance. *Of course, everything seems peaceful enough, but there's been a spike in petty thefts lately,* he reminded himself. Roman shifted his weight, the dull clink of metal on stone breaking the monotonous hum of daily life. He had already resigned himself to an uneventful day of watchful waiting, surrounded by a sea of fellow guards. *Nothing's going to go down on my watch.* Or so he thought. Without warning, the crowd parted just so, revealing a shrouded figure engaged in a less-than-honest enterprise. A nimble hand dipped and danced, flitting from one unsuspecting pocket to another, coalescing a small fortune in stolen coin purses. Muscles tensed, he surged forward, the rhythm of his armored stride growing faster with each passing moment, an audible symphony in his ears—chain links jangling in time with his heart's pounding fury. "Hey!" Roman's call echoed again as he shouldered his way through the sea of bodies, his eyes never straying from the retreating cloak. The adrenaline surge propelled him forward, his duty as clear as the midday sun. Village duty or not, a thief was a thief, and Roman was a man of action, undeterred in his mission—swiftly, decisively, he closed in on his quarry.
