He later sparred with him and surprisingly won after knocking him down with his strong fist and his first time sparring. After that, he was taken under the care of Genji Kamogawa to be trained becoming a professional boxer. He successfully became a pro and later on throughout the years of his professional boxing career he has met countless Rival such as Ryo Mashiba, Sendo Takeshi, Ichiro Miyata and Alexander Volg Zangief. As he was preparing the fight for the A-class tournament her mother fell on fatigue due to overwork. Therefore, he stopped training as he helps her mother work taking care of the family business until he met back with his school bully, Masahiko Umezawa helping him despite the years he was bullied by him he has been a good friend for Ippo and making him go back to train as usual. As he manages to defeat Alexander Volg Zangief he was set to fight Eiji Date, The japanese featherweight division. As he climbs the ladder to reach the Japan champion belt he faced his first lost in his career against, Eiji Date. Later the title belt was returned and claimed by his rival, Sendo Takeshi and fought him in the title match to claim the belt. He won the fight earning himself the japanese featherweight division champion belt. After that, He fought many challengers to claim his belt until he reaches the world stage. As he reaches the world stage he face against Alfredo Gonzales a mexican boxer ranked second in the featherweight division of World Boxing Association. Later on he lost the fight by a shocking knockout that left the crowds silent. As for his comeback match he was faced against Antonio Guevara, a Filipino professional boxer who holds the title "Southpaw God".
