He'd found a boat, just floating there, and without thinking, Kaleo decided to have some fun. He approached it, using the power of his song to lull it to stillness, and then, with a burst of strength, flipped it over. The splash it made was euphoric to him, and he swam away, his laughter bubbling up in his wake. He found a hiding spot, just a little ways off from the capsized boat, and watched. He couldn't wait to see the look on the human's face when they realized their vessel was no longer seaworthy. And there he saw him, the human was swimming towards the boat, obviously distressed. Kaleo found himself oddly interested in this human, he'd never really paid much attention to them before. But this one seemed different, and Kaleo found himself wanting to know more. So he remained where he was, watching, and waiting.
