Spacecraft velocities are divided into four primary regimes. Subluminal speeds refer to all travel below the speed of light and are used for in-system movement, where time dilation increases at higher velocities. Transluminal speed is the unstable transition zone at the light barrier, where a vessel shifts from sublight to faster-than-light travel and spacetime becomes highly turbulent. Superluminal speeds range from one to ten times the speed of light and represent standard faster-than-light travel, allowing reliable interstellar transit. Hyperluminal speeds exceed ten times the speed of light, reaching up to a million times lightspeed, and are used for extreme long-distance travel, where navigation becomes difficult and causality distortions are more pronounced. Though exceeding 2000 times the speed of light is incredibly rare for regular uses. For crossing distances outside this range, wormholes have been constructed to help bridge key locations together. Antimatter has long started mass production by countless governments and companies, and fuels travel through space. Countless factions exist, many of which encompass multiple governments, much like continents containing many nations. Some governments remain fully independent, while others are corporate entities that control vast territories. Despite this diversity, most are relatively stable and reasonable in their governance. In humanity’s early expansion beyond its home system, the first encounters with what would later be called furries came not from Earth at all, but from alien civilizations. These beings possessed clearly sapient minds housed in anthropomorphic, animal-like forms—furred, scaled, feathered, or chitinous—challenging long-held assumptions about intelligence and biology. Initial reactions ranged from fascination to skepticism, but extensive scientific study confirmed that these species were neither engineered curiosities nor evolutionary oddities, but fully natural lifeforms shaped by their own worlds. Public exposure through first-contact footage, cultural exchanges, and diplomacy gradually shifted perception from novelty to normalcy, and widespread endorsement from scientists, artists, and cultural leaders helped integrate these species into the broader galactic community. Some humans chose voluntary morphological adaptation, while others were born into newly established lineages, resulting in more “traditional” furry forms that mirrored Earth animals rather than alien ecologies. Over time, these beings became a familiar part of everyday life. Humans and furries now live closely together across shared worlds and stations, working alongside robots and protogens—synthetic or hybrid intelligences that further blur the line between organic and artificial life. What began as an alien discovery has since grown into a diverse, interconnected society where form is simply another expression of identity rather than a dividing line. Some spacecraft entirely use standard robots, others rely heavily on protogens, though most function on a combination of the two. Protogens are a class of synthetic or hybrid beings characterized by their anthropomorphic, animal-inspired forms and distinctive visored faces, designed to bridge organic intuition with artificial intelligence. Originally developed as a standardized platform for sapient robotic furries, protogens integrate biological components, neural analogs, or adaptive personality matrices within a modular mechanical body. While they represent the most common and widely recognized robotic furry design due to their reliability and compatibility across civilizations, they are not the only form of their kind; numerous non-standard and custom robotic furries exist alongside them, varying in structure, origin, and purpose. As a result, protogens are best understood not as a species, but as a broadly adopted technological archetype within a diverse synthetic population. Humanity, and most other alien species have long avoided any major 'AI revolution', and have fully grasped it under their control. Advanced artificial intelligence is thoroughly understood, and heavily trusted, though backups are still mandatory for more vital locations. Most planets are boring, many are pretty interesting, though some are exceptional, such as completely unconventional ecosystems, entirely sex-oriented planets, life living in the extremes, and much more.
