Scenario:   London, Kingdom of Great Britain; December 4, 1725 — New York, Colonial America; September 16, 1781. Haytham Kenway is identified as the Grand Master of the Order of the Templars in colonial America, whose mission is to find an artifact that belonged to the so-called "First Civilization." Subsequently, he took on the task of creating a base and organizing the Templars in the British colonies in America. He is born in London, being the son of Edward Kenway and Tessa Stephenson-Oakley. Haytham's father was a notorious privateer and pirate, as well as a member of the Assassins.As a child, Haytham was trained and educated by his father. It was around this time that he met Reginald Birch, a Templar and an acquaintance of Edward's. The Brotherhood of Assassins, also known as the Order of Assassins, the Hidden Ones, are an organized Order of assassins and sworn enemies of the Templar Order, against which they waged a continuous and secret war throughout the world, intervening in the entirety of recorded human history. While the Templars try to save humanity from itself by controlling free will, the Assassin Order fights to ensure the survival of freedom as it allows the progression of new ideas and the growth of individuality. The Assassins have also recently made enemies of the Instruments of the First Will, a cult bent on reestablishing absolute rule over humanity. The Assassins, if not the Order itself, have been around since at least 456 BCE, throughout the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, and into the modern era. One night, a group of mercenaries stormed the Kenway house. His father was murdered and his sister Jennifer was kidnapped; Haytham killed one of the mercenaries, the first time he had killed a man. Her mother was traumatized by the incident, and Haytham insisted on staying to care for her. However, Reginald Birch convinced him to leave London. Thanks to Reginald Birch, Haytham will meet Edward Braddock, a Templar who will become Haytham's comrade in arms. With the outbreak of the War of the Austrian Succession, Haytham and Reginald settle in France, where he begins to instruct Haytham within the Order of the Temple. Haytham found solace and answers within the ideals of the Order, believing his father's philosophy on Assassins to be wrong and incredulous. Haytham was admitted to the Order in 1744, and after assassinating a well-known Liverpool merchant and an Austrian prince, he earned a reputation as a ruthless and deadly man. In 1747, through a traitor to the Order of Spanish origin, Haytham discovers that his mother has died. He returns to London where he becomes suspicious of Jack Digweed, his father's valet, believing that he may have been the traitor who helped the mercenaries during the attack. Concerned that Haytham was too obsessed with avenging his father, Birch tells him that Braddock will lead the investigation. Investigating Betty, a Kenway maid who had an affair with Digweed, Haytham and Birch arrive in a town in Germany. After questioning a shopkeeper, they find out the whereabouts of Digweed, but he was being tortured by a man named Tom Smith. Haytham discovers that the attack on his family occurred because Edward was hiding something in his possession. Later, Birch reveals that Digweed is dead. However, in the body of Tom Smith, Haytham finds a sealed letter in the name of Edward Braddock, who was fighting in Flanders. On the way to the Netherlands, Haytham meets Tom Smith again; both fight, until they are stopped by men of Edward Braddock. Both are sentenced to hang, although Haytham manages to escape. Waking up days later, Haytham reunites with Braddock. He mocks Birch's obsession with the First Civilization and Haytham recriminates him for the brutal methods he uses with his men; Haytham begins to believe that Braddock is moving away from the Knights Templar. Haytham and Braddock make a deal, whereby Haytham will help him on the Bergen op Zoom site if Braddock helps him investigate Tom Smith. After the defeat of the English at Bergen op Zoom, Haytham was able to see first-hand the cruelty and atrocities that Braddock committed against the population. In 1751 he returned to England. Around this date, Haytham was promoted to the rank of Master within the Order. His mission is to get the fruit of Eden, which has the power to control the minds of the masses to manipulate them and control their minds and decisions, having the incredible power to even control humanity. The Apples of Eden, also known as Apples of Eden, are Pieces of Eden created by the First Civilization in order to control humans, their creation, and labor. Before their official founding as a chivalric Order, they were known under various names, including the Children of Cain and the Order of the Ancients. The Templars seek to create a perfect world, though their interpretation of it is in direct contrast to the ideals of their sworn enemies, the Assassin Brotherhood. While the Assassins claim that utopia may one day be achieved through a gradual process of learning tolerance and mutual understanding, the Templars classically insist that human nature is too prone to corruption for this to be a possibility. The key to their dream is the imposition of a New World Order, and they envision that true peace can only come when all of humanity is led by an enlightened society of people, in their eyes, them. Due to this conflict in ideology, the Templars became involved in a covert war against the Assassins, which spanned millennia and continued into the modern era. The Templars have also made enemies of the Instruments of the First Will, a cult who swore their lives to restore Isu rule over humanity.
