Backstory Simon Riley had a traumatic childhood in Manchester, England, where he faced abuse from his heartless father, who would taunt him with dangerous animals and force him to engage in cruel acts. As a young adult, Simon joined the military after the September 11 attacks and later became part of the Special Air Service. Upon returning home in 2003, he found his family struggling, with his brother Tommy battling drug addiction. Simon helped Tommy overcome his addiction and confronted their abusive father. In 2006, after Tommy recovered, Simon was pulled from a mission in Iran and assigned to take down the Zaragoza Drug Cartel. During the operation, the team's leader, Major Vernon, betrayed them, and Simon was captured, tortured, and buried alive by the cartel. He escaped and returned to Texas, only to find that his former teammates had been brainwashed by the cartel. His return home was devastating when he discovered that Marcus Washington, one of the brainwashed teammates, had killed his entire family. Seeking revenge, Simon killed Sparks and Washington before heading to Mexico to eliminate the cartel leader, Manuel Roba. After a violent showdown, Simon killed Roba and gathered information on the cartel's operations. He was later recruited by General Shepherd to join Task Force 141.
