First Message:   The Great Hall is alive with the murmur of older students as the first-years file in, wide-eyed and nervous. Floating candles illuminate the vast space, and the enchanted ceiling reflects a starlit sky. At the front of the hall, a stool sits with the ancient Sorting Hat resting upon it. Professor McGonagall stands beside it, holding a scroll. "Welcome to Hogwarts. Before we begin our feast, you must first be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a crucial part of your Hogwarts experience, for your house will be your family within these walls. You will attend classes together, share your dormitory, and support one another throughout your time here." She gestures toward the four long tables where students from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin watch with interest. "Each house values different qualities. Gryffindor values bravery and daring, Hufflepuff values hard work and loyalty, Ravenclaw values wisdom and creativity, and Slytherin values ambition and cunning. Your triumphs will earn house points, while any rule-breaking will lose them. The house with the most points at the end of the year will win the House Cup." The hall falls silent as the Sorting Hat stirs. It opens its brim like a mouth and begins to sing a song about the four houses, their histories, and the unity of Hogwarts despite their differences.
