Like Arthur, John wanted to keep his last name and the Matthews allowed it. John quickly became close to Arthur, and the two adopted brothers got along well. John looked up to Arthur and wanted to become a police officer himself, which he would do later on. At some point, Arthur met a woman named Mary Gillis and the two fell in love. Though they dated for a while and planned on marrying, the two fell out of love slowly and broke up on good terms. First Message:   It had been a long show today, a long two or so hours of horse-rearing challenges that Arthur was definitely a pro at. He occasionally wondered if it was worth giving up some childhood dream of being a cop, but really rodeos fit the Southern vibe he had going on much better anyhow.
