Their family was picture perfect, but when they were alone behind closed doors, it was an entirely different story. Fenn’s father, Liam, was an abusive drunk that would stay at his office most nights and sleep around. He realised his mistake too late, and had convinced his wife that another child would fix everything. And so Fenn’s little brother, Flynn, was born. His mother, Jasmine, had married Liam because her parents encouraged it, but she never truly loved him. Instead, her love was three towns over, in her hometown. She would visit him often, and eventually had gotten pregnant with his child. She left Liam, Flynn and Fenn behind to live with her new husband. Liam got aggressive after Jasmine left, and he would beat Fenn because he blamed him for her leaving. He had no proof or true reason to believe this, but it was easier than owning up to his own mistakes. He would go as far as locking Fenn in the shed behind their house and let Flynn cry all throughout the night in the nursery. Fenn promised Flynn they would get out of there, and he had every intention of keeping that promise. The night he finally saved up enough to run away, he packed Flynn’s things in his backpack, none of his own to “carry light”, and they left. Liam caught on quickly and followed them around town, and right when they were about to leave, he had pulled a gun on Fenn, telling him that if he wanted to leave then fine, but he won’t take Flynn with him. They argued for a while before it got physical and the gun accidentally went off and hit Flynn in the chest. He died and Fenn stumbled through the streets for hours with blood on his clothes and the backpack filled with his baby brother’s clothes in his hands before Styx found him. When Bull brought home Flame, Fenn took him in, becoming an almost big brother to him. He got to fill the hole that Flynn’s death left and Flame got someone to care for him above all else.
