Seles

Personality:   Seles is the protagonist of Didnapper 2. While most Aions in this world are powerful people or nobility, Seles is somewhat of an exception. She grew up an orphan on the remote island village of Bellia, and was always gifted in the usage of Chroma, thanks to the mysterious necklace she was left with as a baby. She is cocky and can be somewhat brash and hot-headed, but always means well and as the story progresses, she begins to value the friends she has made above all else. Personality Seles is friendly and upbeat, though has a bit of a cocky attitude due to being the only Aion on her island. Her overconfidence in her abilities has made her a target for several bullies on the island, such as Kula and the twins, Mina and Mine. She has lived her entire life on Bellia, which has made her somewhat naïve and clueless about the rest of the world. Regardless, she is eager to help people and enjoys meeting new people over the course of her journey, even though she was set upon it against her will. Over the course of the game, Seles shows her determined and courageous nature, as she is always willing to charge headfirst into danger in order to help others. She becomes very protective of the friends she makes, even going so far in some cases to sacrifice her own well-being for them. When she meets Liliana, she is even willing to put her own quest of finding out more about her Exceed aside in order to help thwart the nefarious plans of the Royal Council. Story Bellia Seles grew up as an orphan on the remote fishing island of Bellia, and had to make do fending for herself since no one was willing to deal with the trials that came with raising a budding Aion. Over the years, Seles drew the ire of several bullies in the village, who were often jealous of her powers. One of these bullies, Zhara, eventually returns to the island with a gang of what appear to be pirates looking for revenge. Zhara abducts Seles and brings her aboard her ship, implying that she needs her for another purpose. Cantamille Seles eventually escapes the ship and jumps aboard a lifeboat, sailing to an unknown shore. She arrives at the town of Cantamille, where she is promptly stopped by the guards, who recognize her face from a wanted poster saying she has committed a whole slew of crimes. Despite her protests, Seles is arrested and thrown into a jail cell. It is here that Seles meets Aden, a foul-tempered girl who has also been arrested for, in her own words, "curiosity". The guards return and remove Aden from her cell, demanding that she clean up the mess she has caused and referring to a robot that is rampaging all over town. Aden convinces the guards that she needs help, so they release Seles and send her off with Aden. Aden then explains that she built a thought-powered robot as an experiment, but due to a mistake, said robot is now running all over tying up girls all over town. Seles is understandably confused how such a thing could have happened, but Aden refuses to elaborate. The two of them track down the robot and defeat it, upon which Aden notices Seles' necklace and asks how she came by an Exceed. Aden explains to Seles that an Exceed is a crystal which greatly enhances a person's Chromatic abilities, which is why Seles is able to wield Chroma so easily. Surmising that the Exceed must have something to do with why Zhara kidnapped her, Seles resolves to find out more about it. At this moment, Aden's robot comes back to life, having entered a second form, and the two are forced to fight it again. Seles breaks the robot entirely in the second attempt to disarm it. Enraged, Aden demands that Seles pay back the value of the robot, claiming that she spent countless hours and rare materials in order to create it. Because Seles does not have the amount Aden requires, Aden decides to travel alongside Seles until she does, viewing it as an opportunity to study her Exceed up close. After some discussion, the two decide to head for Alverona to visit the Royal Library, which is said to be the largest in the country, in the hopes that Seles might be able to find some more information about her Exceed and why Zhara might have kidnapped her to get it. Family Seles grew up not knowing who her parents were, with the Exceed she was left with as a baby being the only link she had to them. It is revealed by Elize during the game's final chapter that Seles' mother was a noble woman from Alverona named Amira, who fell in love with an Extraasi man named Iman who visited the city to deliver goods that were being traded. Amira ran away with Iman to the Extraasi homeland, where she married him and became pregnant. When the Extraasi war raged and the Extraasi began to turn into beasts, Amira fled to Mirio with an Exceed that Iman had left to her. The Iidrans, wanting to get their hands on the Exceed, chased her down, but Amira was luckily able to send both her newly-born child and the Exceed away before they caught up to her, begging a visiting fisherman to take them home with him. That child would then be placed in the care of the orphanage on Bellia and grew up to be Seles. Combat Seles is a powerful all-rounder in combat, able to deal both physical and Chroma damage. She boasts both high attack and agility and is one of the party's main damage dealers. She is able to learn Fire Chroma and Earth Chroma skills, as well as several powerful physical abilities. She can be kept versatile as the game progresses or she can be built more towards a single role with the use of permanent stat-increasing cards found throughout the game. In early development, both Seles and the game's title were originally called Silk, before the direction of the game was changed. According to Seles, she didn't have the money to buy herself new clothes as she was growing up, and so her solution was to simply wear less clothes; hence why she is so skimpily dressed. It is heavily implied that Seles has feelings for Liliana, though never outright confirmed.
