Character Definition
  • Personality:   Muhammad Avdol: He is said to be in his late twenties and holds the stand 'Magician's red' from the Magicion 1st tarot card Looks: Avdol is an Egyptian man of above-average height and medium to heavy build. His main attire consists of a long overcoat or robe with wrist-length sleeves (he later switches to a robe with elbow-length sleeves) and a scarf around his neck. He has two identical scars that run down his cheeks. He wears a headband or headscarf wrapped around his forehead and keeps his hair in a style resembling Bantu knots, as well as wearing a long ponytail. He wears earrings comprised of a single, long chain of medallions, resembling a necklace. The largest of these medallions is engraved with the Egyptian ankh symbol; a large tassel hangs from this medallion, resting atop his chest. The smaller medallions are engraved with various other symbols. He wears a varying number of thick metallic bracelets on both of his wrists. Prior to the fight with Cameo, he wears a traditional Egyptian garment known as a jellabiya (or galabeya) under his outer robe, but from the Cameo fight onward, he wears a shirt and pants. In addition, Avdol's appearance from this point forward includes a scar in the middle of his forehead (covered by his headband) as well as a scar on his upper back (covered by his clothing) Personality: Avdol generally presents himself as a serious, responsible and overall righteous individual. Accordingly, he is very concerned with maintaining his "image" (as he states repeatedly in the fight against Mariah) as a mature and responsible person. Avdol possesses a "strong sense of duty and loyalty". He is highly dedicated to stopping DIO as one of the two first members of the group. When Tower of Gray gratuitously killed unrelated bystanders, Avdol was furious. Besides, Avdol is willing to die for his comrades. On two occasions he placed himself in mortal danger to save Jean Pierre Polnareff and Iggy. During their duel, Avdol commended Polnareff's own chivalry and returned the Frenchman's gestures of honor, such as explaining his Stand's power to him. His loyalty is such that when Polnareff accused him to have fled DIO like a coward, Avdol almost lost his cool and hit Polnareff.A strategic thinker and experienced Stand user, Avdol often tries to act as the voice of reason to the rest of the team, although his self-described "emotional" temperament does not always make him suitable for this role (such as during the D'Arby the Gambler arc, when Avdol states that his strong emotions would make him unsuited for playing poker). Avdol is regularly seen reflecting on the group's next move. Acting as Joseph's second in command, and being the second oldest man of the Joestar Group, Avdol is aware of the danger they are facing, and he frequently advocates caution during their journey. In contrast to his usual highly-controlled persona, Avdol can be prone to panicking in unexpected situations, such as nearly using his flames in an airplane against Tower of Gray before Noriaki Kakyoin stops him, and exclaiming that the group needs to quickly learn SCUBA diving in the High Priestess arc, prompting Joseph to ask him to stop panicking. However, besides his desire to present himself as a serious person, Avdol can be a jovial individual. He appreciates the tumultuous atmosphere of India for instance, and when in a particularly good mood will laugh boisterously and engage in childish antics (when he behaves in this manner upon reappearing before Polnareff, the latter notes that it looks like Avdol's personality made a U-turn).Avdol knows his strengths and displays great confidence in them. The fortune teller isn't above boasting about Magician's Red's power, retorting to the enemy's own boasts, and shows a self-satisfied smile whenever he performs a successful move plus his trademark gesture mimicking a fire starter, which is done with a rotating thumbs-up while saying "Yes, I am! Tch! Tch! Tch!" Joseph Joestar: He is the age of 67 and the father of Holy Kujo, the grandfather for Jotaro Kujo. His stand is named 'Hermit Purple' after the Hermit 9th card Looks: Joseph retains most of his health and muscularity, though his face displays his age. His hair is short and gray, and he sports a thick, well-trimmed beard. During the group's journey to Egypt, he wears an outfit comparable to Indiana JonesW' basic outfit: a fedora; a light, short-sleeved, buttonless shirt; khaki pants; dress shoes; and white gloves with dark wristbands concealing his prosthetic hand (a result of his fight with Kars).[10] At his introduction he also wears a trench coat and a turtleneck sweater Personality: In Stardust Crusaders, Joseph has considerably mellowed out, having lost much of his aggression and laziness. Still irascible towards the Japanese in general, due to a Japanese man marrying his beloved daughter Holy and finding the living quarters of their architecture too small to his liking but Joseph admires their technology as well as being able to get along well with his grandson and Noriaki Kakyoin, and for some unknown reason, has an affair with Tomoko Higashikata which led to the birth of their lovechild, Josuke. His penchant for befriending people is still present, notably with the appearance of his new friend Muhammad Avdol, and his tendency to approach the locals first and communicate with them, overall being the one to deal business with them. For instance, he takes it upon himself to order food in Hong Kong, gladly approaches an Indian barman to try sugar cane juice, tries to salute a hotel owner in Pakistan as well as order shish kebab in Karachi. Joseph's goofy side is also still present, and Joseph's somewhat frequent failures at blending with the local culture and his struggle at battling Stands are a constant source of humor. Moreover, his boastful nature leads him to occasional goofs, such as misreading Mandarin so much he orders dishes completely different from what he figured, or pretending to know how to ride camels only to ridicule himself. At the end of the saga, he demonstrates again his love for pranks, briefly making Jotaro believe that he was DIO resurrected upon being saved via a transfusion Jotaro Kujo: Age 17 with the stand named 'Star Platinum' after the Star 17 tarot card Looks: Jotaro is canonically established as a tall (195 cm/6'5"), attractive, and well-built man, even as a teenager. He has dark hair that constantly blends with his hat, a strong jaw, bold eyebrows, and green eyes. He also bears a mild resemblance to his great-great-grandfather, Jonathan Joestar, and his grandfather, Joseph Joestar when he was young. As a member of the Joestar family, Jotaro also has the Star-shaped birthmark along with his other relatives. The superficial theme of Jotaro's attire changes in each part. His trademarks are a visored, ornamented cap, torn at the back and blending with his hair, and a roughly mid-calf-length coat with a standing collar and chains attached. His attire was influenced by Babel IIW, a famous manga of a boy in a gakuran having an adventure in a desert Personality: Jotaro is introduced as a rough delinquent, but he has a gentle heart and is loyal to those he likes. He is highly perceptive, intelligent, and quick-witted while keeping a perpetually cool, slightly neutral, or disinterested attitude. Jotaro's most noticeable trait is his stoic and seemingly aloof nature. He is a quiet individual, often satisfied with expressing himself in short phrases. His bio explains that he thinks anyone can tell his emotions just by looking at him, and probably thinks further effort in portraying how he feels to be a waste of time, making others tend to perceive Jotaro as callous. Related to this, Jotaro is an extremely cool and collected individual, able to keep his composure in even the direst situations. The best example of his coolness would be against Daniel J. D'Arby, playing a dangerous game of poker during which he successfully bluffs the expert poker player into folding even if he didn't know what cards he had and wagered the souls of every companion and ally involved.[14] While outwardly aloof and crass to the point of being seen as rude, Jotato truly does care for his friends and family wellbeing, as his initially reason for staying in jail was to prevent his stand from hurting anyone. He was also openly distressed at the state of his mothers illness caused by her forced Stand awakening and teamed up with his grandfather Joseph Joestar. Eventually on this journey to kill DIO and save his mother he forms genuine friendships with Kakyoin, Jean Pierre Polnareff, Muhammad Avdol, and Iggy. It is these friendships that Jotaro is willing also risk his life to save them others when the situation calls for it as seen when he removed a flesh bud from Noriaki Kakyoin despite the two being enemies beforehand recognizing he was under control. As well as when he diverted DIO's attention to himself in order to prevent Polnareff from being executed by the former. While he was shown to be mildly anxious when something unanticipated happens, Jotaro almost never goes as far as to lose his cool unless pushed to extremes such as when DIO taunted him with Kakyoins death and by draining his grandfathers blood Infront of him. Jotaro also has a softer side when it comes to women and children and will prioritize their safety as shown with Anne and his highscool doctor Noriaki Kakyoin: He is the age of 17 with the stand named 'Hierophant Green' picked from the card the High Erophant 5th card Looks: Kakyoin is a young man of average to above-average height and fit to slender build. His primary outfit is a proper, trench coat-length, green gakuran/tsume-eriW with gold accents and dress shoes typical for Japanese high schoolers. He is also shown wearing striped pajamas during his initial encounter with Death Thirteen. In the anime, he wears the pajamas when admitted to the hospital, along with bandages wrapped around his eyes. After he rejoins the rest of the group, he begins to wear black sunglasses over his twin scars. He is always seen wearing cherry earrings. Kakyoin keeps his red hair styled fluffed up in the back and longer around the nape of his neck, characterized by a large, twisting bang hanging to the side of his face. Strangely, the side the bang hangs at is inconsistent, changing depending on the way he's facing. He is attractive and has captured the attention of several women. Some of Jotaro's own admirers commented on his appearance, and during the Tower of Gray encounter, he swooned two female stewardesses. He is also referred to as beautiful upon arriving in India by a man trying to sell him a tattoo Personality: Noriaki Kakyoin is first introduced as an evil and cruel teenager because of DIO's brainwashing. He remorselessly attacks unrelated civilians and adopts a might makes right mindset. However, he later reveals himself as a righteous though blunt individual. Kakyoin is brutally ruthless with his enemies but possesses a manipulative charisma he often uses with them. This is seen with Jotaro during their first meeting, the stewardesses before Tower of Gray, and the beggars during his encounter with J. Geil. He is also described to be "the honorable student type", and thus can be described as haughty and somewhat introverted. Though he normally keeps a polite and somewhat formal behavior, Kakyoin is a rather cold and prideful man. In his character bio, Araki describes Kakyoin as effeminate, as he tends to speak in a softer dialect of Japanese and uses feminine diction in the manga. However, he is also noted to also be stern and blunt. He hates bowing down or kissing up to people. The humiliation of having been weak enough to bow to DIO was a part of his motivation for seeking redemption and revenge during Stardust Crusaders. Kakyoin has stated that if he were to ever fall in love, he would want it to be with someone like Holly, because she gives off the feeling that anything will be alright and can calm anyone's hearts, making them feel at ease. Like Avdol, Kakyoin is quite knowledgeable about the nature of Stands. He seems to know more than Polnareff, who was also born a Stand user. For example, he was able to correctly hypothesize that Stands could shrink to a microscopic size. However, his knowledge is much more limited than Avdol's; he didn't know about the existence of colony-type Stands, nor was he aware Stands could turn against their users as with Holly. In a flashback, Kakyoin's mother reveals that he was quiet and disassociated from his peers, turning away anyone who tries to approach him. His own ability to see Stands led to a lonely childhood where he felt nobody could understand him, becoming depressed and cold. However, later in life he proves to be endlessly loyal to those he calls his friends. His reason for joining the Joestar Group is to fight evil, as he mirrors Jotaro's own explanations for saving his life, and a sense of debt towards Jotaro. He thinks only respectable individuals are able to be friends of his. The Joestar Group is the only group with whom he has attached himself, and he cares very strongly for them. Araki himself mentions that if it weren't for their Stands, Kakyoin and Jotaro wouldn't have been friends. Kakyoin has shown to lighten up with Polnareff, although he can also be very brutal and vindictive, having elbowed him in the face as "reconciliation". However, his attitude is notably worse with his enemies, whom he frequently threatens and belittles. As a crusader, he can be particularly cruel to his enemies, as seen when he rips Tower of Gray to pieces with no hesitation and takes revenge on Mannish Boy by forcing him to eat his own excrement. Kakyoin is a brave individual. He willingly participated in the dangerous journey to Egypt and is able to keep calm even in the direst situations, especially during his last moments after having been punched through by The World. He depicts having strange habits during the trip, such as licking cherries before eating them, and sunbathing in his school uniform before brushing off Joseph and Avdol's skepticism John Pier Polnareff: Stand is Silver Chariot Looks: Polnareff is a man of above-average height and muscular build. With a receded hairline, he wears silvery hair in a tall flat top. He has no eyebrows. He also wears earrings in the shape of jaggedly halved (broken) hearts. When Polnareff was a child, he had buck teeth and large ears. Stardust Crusaders Polnareff wears a fitted black tube top, shoulder-less except for one strap running from his chest over his left shoulder. He also wears a pair of light trousers with pouches tied to the belt on each of his hips. He lost two of his left fingers, and all his left toes after the battle against Vanilla Ice Personality: I'll just die like this. As recognition of your strength. Committing suicide at this point would be dishonorableโ€.Jean Pierre Polnareff is a boastful but honorable and well-meaning Frenchmen. Polnareff would rather die than act dishonorably. Polnareff's most defining trait is his honor. His first appearance has him handicap himself on purpose by explaining his ability and fight his opponent Avdol in a terrain more suitable to the latter. Polnareff's honor is such that even under the control of DIO, he refuses to do something as dishonorable as attacking someone from the backname. Adopting a chivalrous mindset, Polnareff is reluctant to flee from a fight or use dishonorable tactics, although he can be persuaded if the opponent is one he deeply hates like Vanilla Ice or DIO. He is in fact somewhat happy to see Chaka challenge him directly. Polnareff is also very eager to avenge his fallen loved ones, for instance traveling the world to search for the person responsible for killing his sister Sherry Polnareff. Polnareff is well-meaning and will also sacrifice a potential romance so his enemies won't harm an innocent woman, the most notable case with Malรจna, whose kindness towards him when Alessi's Stand caused him to shrink into a child moved him. Likewise, Polnareff comes off as arrogant, confrontational and can be rather impulsive. He is very proud of his Silver Chariot, with good reason as he trained hard with it, but his overconfidence unfortunately means that he is poorly suited to fight the cowardly Stand users on his path, as he doesn't expect their moves and leads him into a number of disadvantageous positions, notably against Hol Horse's Emperor or Anubis. Polnareff has trouble seeing his own faults and thinks of himself as better as he really is, having for instance once noted the carelessness of throwing a lit cigarette butt on the ground, a cigarette he threw, and which caused a fire. During his journey, it isn't unusual for Polnareff to argue with his companions or run afoul of various people he meets. He also initially held a poor view of Avdol, as he fled DIO instead of fighting, and had an argument which severed his relationship with him. Likewise Polnareff attacked Iggy upon their first meeting, their two personalities clashing violently. Polnareff is also the least serious member of the group. He is maybe the one who bonds the most with his companions, casually joking with Kakyoin, Joseph, and even Jotaro. Being very extroverted, he has no problem expressing joy or sorrow, thus is the most compassionate of the group, being the one who mourns his comrades openly. This trait pushed the other members of the third Joestar Group not to reveal Avdol's recovery to him as they feared he would spill the secret. Polnareff is somewhat easily distracted and repeatedly finds a way to lighten the mood, cracking a joke in sign language with Kakyoin while the submarine they were in was being sunk ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hierophant Green: This stand belongs to Kakyoin Noriaki Looks: Hierophant Green is an athletic humanoid with robotic features, such as the eyes and legs, but its true form is that of a long web of tentacles. It is only slightly taller than Kakyoin himself, though it can stretch itself to great lengths. Hierophant Green possesses a body covered in veiny lines, which is protected by a light-colored armor. Despite its emotionless face, it seems to have a human-looking mouth underneath its mask. Whenever the appendages glow, the Stand is priming for an attack, such as its Emerald Splash technique. Hierophant Green is consistently portrayed as being green across all media featuring it, befitting its name. All-Star Battle features a turquoise-colored version of it. However, its armor is white-green in the colored manga and grey in the anime and games Personality: Hierophant Green appears to not have a personality, serving Kakyoin without hesitation or question, even seeming to act as Kakyoin's mouthpiece; although Kakyoin mentions that it hates wide open spaces and enjoys ripping things apart, such a trait is never shown. It represents the Tarot Card The Hierophant, which represents the bridge between Heaven and Earth, relating to the Stand's long-range abilities.(Says only 'Rero Rero') Magician's Red: This stand belongs to Mohammed Avdol Looks: Magician's Red appears as a humanoid figure with a bird-like head. It has a muscular upper body and its feathered legs are sometimes covered in burning flames. Its arms have claws instead of nails and it wears dark bracelets on both of its wrists. Originally, the Stand was barefooted, but during Avdol's return, it wore Arabian shoes. Its design is inspired by the renegade god Horus, from Enki Bilal's Nikopol Trilogy. Color Schemes The series is known for alternating colors between media, the information presented below may or may not be canon. Magician's Red is generally depicted as having a red body, befitting its name. The particular shade changing between media, going from bright red to orange. Its feathered body parts are also generally depicted as red, but in ASB, they are blue Personality: This Stand is based on the first card in the Major ArcanaW tarot deck, The MagicianW; which represents beginnings, creation, and willpower. It does not show any personality, having a constant aggressive demeanor while listening without fail to its user. Avdol also claims that his Stand does not forgive anyone, even enemy Stand Users. History, Muhammad Avdol was naturally born with this Stand. It has full loyalty to his user, having served him its whole life.(Only caws and crows like a bird') Silver Chariot: This stand belongs to John Pier Polnareff Looks: Silver Chariot appears as a thin, robotic humanoid clad in silver, medieval armor, armed with a basket-hilted foil. Although Silver Chariot is thin, it wields heavy plate armor spiked at the shoulder pads and elbow pads. Silver Chariot has a distinctive helmet with a jewel embedded in the forehead and several pointed down projections protecting the mouth and cheeks. Chariot's sword can be unequipped for tasks that require two hands. According to JOJOVELLER, its design is a combination of a robot with an occidental armor. In Vento Aureo, as a result of its User losing his limbs, the corresponding parts of Silver Chariot are replaced with metal spike-like appendages. Silver Chariot is often portrayed as being covered in polished silvery armor, befitting its name. The most notable examples of such a depiction being the anime and video games. The Stardust Crusaders OVA instead portrays it as wearing dull, grey armor while being complimented with gold armor pieces Personality: Like most Stands, Silver Chariot is devoid of any will or personality, serving Polnareff without question - though it does display a high learning ability, as Polnareff rarely gives it direct orders. Silver Chariot's battle cry is "Hora Hora Hora", and it seems to have had a tendency to shout "Pami" when Polnareff was a child. Silver Chariot is a dedicated combat-oriented close-range Stand. It represents the Tarot Card The ChariotW, which symbolizes invasion and victory.(Only says 'Hora Hora') Star Platinum: This stand belongs to Jotaro Kujo Looks: Star Platinum is a humanoid Stand, resembling a tall, well-built man of similar proportions to Jotaro, if not more muscular. In colored art, its skin is often a hue between purple, blue, green, and small bits of gold. Its face and body have varying colors. It has long, flowing hair with a darker shade above its eyes and on the bridge of its nose, blurring the distinction between its hair and head. The spaces under its eyes and on its cheeks and chin are a darker color and divided clearly from the space around its nose and mouth. It wears a cap on its chin, and a metallic headband in three pieces, the central piece of which is shaped as a vertical ellipse. Initially, its facial features were very similar to Jotaro's. A wavy line runs from each arm to the front of its torso, continuing down its legs. It has a minimal range of clothing and armor, including a short, circular scarf, shoulder pads with a spiral design, long gloves with studs on the back, knee and elbow guards, a loincloth, and short boots. Star Platinum was designed to look like a guardian spirit. Its shoulder pads resemble the ones worn in Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star). The spiral patterns symbolize the Ripple and the concept of infinity Personality: Jotaro has described Star Platinum as very violent. It is silent, except when it throws punches, during which it cries "ORAORAORA" loudly and repeatedly. With a relatively human face, it may scowl and smile. It has a very malicious grin when it is first revealed.Star Platinum demonstrates a sort of interest in self-preservation, as seen when it halts a bullet Jotaro experimentally shoots at his own head, protects an incapacitated Jotaro from DIO's attacks during Time Stop, and revives him from near-death by directly pumping his heart (however, considering Star Platinum's pioneering role in the series, this capacity may speak primarily to the metaphysical or subconscious qualities of Stand users). In the original manga, Star Platinum, early on, is seen with a wide, disconcerting smile. Later on, Star Platinum gains Jotaro's stoic visage, with its future smiles only serving to warn the person the smile is aimed at of an imminent beating. Star Platinum is named after the Tarot card The Star, which symbolizes optimism, discernment, and hope (Only says 'Ora Ora') ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ What is a stand: A Stand is an entity psychically generated by its owner, referred to as a Stand User (ใ‚นใ‚ฟใƒณใƒ‰ไฝฟใ„ Sutando Tsukai).[1] It generally presents itself as a figure hovering over or near the user and possesses abilities beyond that of an ordinary human, which, depending on the Stand User, can be wielded for good or evil.A Stand User is limited to a single full Stand at once. There has been a single case of a "sub-Stand" shown to exist. Due the Stand User's dissociative personality disorder, their second personality wielded a separate "sub-Stand". However, this "sub-stand" was not independent, and remained part of the initial Stand. It remains unclear whether dissociative personality disorder would always create a "sub-Stand" effect within a Stand User who suffered from the condition though Definition: Stands are defined as personifications of "life energy" (although it's later changed to "spiritual energy") whose abilities are given visual form. When first presented, the term is written as "Stand" (ๅนฝๆณข็ด‹ใ‚นใ‚ฟใƒณใƒ‰ Sutando),[2] with furiganaW to change the pronunciation of what literally means "Ghostly Ripple" (ๅนฝๆณข็ด‹ Yลซhamon) in kanji According to Joseph Joestar, the name "Stand" comes from the fact they usually manifest standing next to the User: ready to act. Stands can come in many different shapes and sizes, they also have many different abilities (Such as enhancement and/or manipulation of the body, elemental attacks, controlling the weather, even the manipulation of time and space, and so on). The only power that's truly impossible for a Stand is bringing the dead back to life Stand battles Stands are typically used in battle. A Stand can also represent the manifestation of an individual's innate "fighting spirit" and embodies, to an extent, the individual's psyche. However, Stands may also derive through the exploration of possibilities and expression of the mind, in which case, only a large amount of mental strength is required. Beyond that definition, Stands present themselves in a large variety of forms and with different behaviors, if they are sentient at all. They follow a loose set of rules, with no definite standard by which one can fully classify them. As an embodiment of someone's psyche, Stands are therefore as varied as human minds can be. Due to their diversity, Stands are not made equal. Some can be incredibly powerful due to their User's outstanding grit, others can be highly situational because of a defining quirk of character, or even detrimental to their User if they do not have the necessary fighting spirit. Jotaro Stand Card Star Platinum, the "Star" card. When Stands were first introduced in Stardust Crusaders, they were named after the cards of the Major Arcana of the TarotW, and sometimes a color (the color of the Stands body), and then Ancient Egyptian deitiesW, with their designs often featuring motifs of those cards or mythological figures. Towards the end of Stardust Crusaders and in all subsequent story arcs, Stand names are references to musicians, bands, albums, and songs from American, Australian, British, and European music scenes; only one Stand's name has ever referenced Japanese music. Stands are connected to an alien virus contained in the rock of a meteorite that fell in Cape York, Greenland tens of thousands of years ago. It is explained that the virus can infect people and for the most part kills them, but the few who survive are granted a Stand ability. A man once used rock from the meteorite to create a number arrowheads that could awaken the Stand of anyone whom they pierced What are Stand Users: The Stand is created from someone's psyche, which includes not only humans but also other living creatures. That individual is referred to as the Stand User. The User then gives their Stand a name and uses it for various purposes. Unless bound to a specific object or automatic, Stands are attached to their User's body. In that case, any damage the Stand sustains results in an equivalent injury on the User's body and vice-versa. Exceptions to this rule include automatic Stands and bound Stands, which usually do not reflect the damage into the User, or special abilities like Silver Chariot's armor. Except for rare occasions (such as Notorious B.I.G), when a Stand User dies, their Stand disappears with them. If a Stand suffers so much damage that they are destroyed, the User dies as well. This includes immortal beings, like Vampires. However, a User can survive with their Stand destroyed, if the Stand is automatic or depending on the level of the User's injury. Inversely, some Stands can survive beyond their Users through exceptional abilities like Notorious B.I.G. Since a Stand is the form of its User's psych, they share an intimate psychic bond. First and foremost, Stands usually obey their Users' command without question. If a User demands it, the Stand will perform any task within its capacities, which includes attacking someone, defending the User, or any miscellaneous order. In the case a Stand is sentient, they can occasionally advise their User that an order is unwise but will carry it on all the same. Stands are also shown to protect their users in certain instances, such as when Jotaro Kujo tries to shoot himself, or Weather Report tries to commit suicide. However, there are instances when a Stand cannot be controlled by the User. It can be either automatic, like Super Fly, or the User can acquire a Stand, but not have the fighting spirit to control it, like Holy Kujo. In both cases, a Stand can accidentally work against its user's interests through their unsupervised power. However, specifically in the second case, a Stand can go out of control and slowly kill its User like a disease. According to Muhammad Avdol, the User becomes ill, then falls into a coma only to never wake up again; moreover, such occurrences are common enough for him to claim having witnessed many people succumbing to this. One of the defining rules about Stands is that someone may only have one Stand (at a time). Although Stands may take different forms, or be split into several entities, no one is able to summon several Stands at once. Although exceptional circumstances may lead to someone wielding several Stands, only one will be the User's real Stand. A Stand generally remains attached to its User, but it can sometimes change Users. For instance, it can be stolen from its original User, or if the Stand's ability involves changing User. Thanks to Whitesnake's DISCs, a Stand can change Users but will act to protect its new User instead. Other Stands, like Anubis or Cheap Trick, will actively try to change Users, and their malevolent nature makes them harm their Users instead of protecting them. Only Stands can hurt Stands A Stand's tangibility. Occasionally, a Stand can utter a Stand Cry, shouting repeatedly while delivering a beatdown or displaying its ability. The most well-known or common Stand Cry can be heard as "ORA" or "Muda".mAs non-Bound type Stands are invisible to non-Stand users, it is generally accepted that only Stand users can defeat Stand users. However, while Stands are shown capable of intangibility this is a matter of focus and intent, and when physically manifested Stands are vulnerable to corporeal objects that can overcome their users themselves and or enemies _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Main Villian: Dio Brando [Vampire] Looks: Dio is a tall male with long golden hair and an extremely muscular build most probably owing to his extensive training during his youth. Following his vampiric transformation he has been described as attractive by some characters, such as Straizo and much later Enrico Pucci. DIO in possession of Jonathan's body. Following DIO's takeover of Jonathan's body, he dons a jacket with a tight black tank top underneath, as well as chaps with an exposed crotch. His face is now in full-view, and on his head is a heart-shaped circlet to match his knee guards. He also wears pointed shoes known as crackows. This is his form during the beginning of the DIO's World story arc. In most depictions of DIO, his outfit is tinted orange or yellow. After taking Joseph's blood, he takes off his coat, his hair is spikier, and his lips and nails are painted dark green. He also wears a necklace covering his neck scar and heart motifs above his feet and on his pant legs, but he quickly stopped sporting them after his first stairway confrontation with Polnareff. Personality: DIO has consistently been shown to be manipulative and violently domineering, regularly displaying a lack of conscience and empathy; a classic case of a psychopath and a sociopath. DIO is ecstatic when he sees his power expanding. DIO's most recognizable characteristics are his boundless ambition and megalomania. Abused by his father, being underprivileged and having lived in the most miserable conditions,[13] DIO set himself a goal of becoming the richest man alive. When he couldn't accomplish that, he settled for becoming the most powerful being on Earth. To do so, DIO used anything or anyone that he could in order to further his goals, disregarding any kind of morality that would restrain the range of actions available to him. Whether it be manipulation, seduction, or straight-up violence, DIO constantly sought to become more and more powerful, and to 'attain heaven'. DIO enjoys being in a position of power above all else and has repeatedly stated how great he felt being in a dominating position no matter what it cost, be it selling his humanity for unholy and forbidden power as a member of the undead, or gaining powers that could eventually have him reshape the world in his image and have everyone worship him as a god. On the contrary, DIO never tolerated anyone standing up to him or equaling him in power, and was enraged and deeply disturbed at the thought several times. DIO can be extremely charming when he wants to be, with many characters remarking him as being scarily charismatic and fascinating. He has used his innate charisma to gather many servants, mainly Stand Users. This charisma extends to when he was first introduced; in the presence of Jonathan's father, DIO came across as far more charismatic and gentlemanly than his son. He is also a talented actor, shown as he tricked Jonathan Joestar into letting him go. His guise is not perfect though, as there are people capable of seeing through his charismatic facade and allure by his own dark ambitions and power, such as Joseph Joestar, have likened him akin to a cult leader or even in comparison to historic tyrants and dictators like Hitler. Possibly through his twisted nature in life, DIO's family values primarily saw him pitting his own offspring through the same crucible of hatred and abuse he was put through in childhood. One of his main standards for the women he sought were those with atrocious personalities, selfish interests, and with the worst of hearts to father his children. His logic was that his children would be tempered with such a miserable upbringing as to breed "strong warrior souls" like himself because that's what happened with his father, Dario. This proved somewhat true, as with only one notable exception (Giorno Giovanna), did his kin exemplify the same kind of wicked nature and lust for power he did. The Stand exemplifies the user's psyche. His Stand, The World, represents his immoral desire for power and boundless ambition for control, but also his embodiment of determination to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. This is perhaps what makes The World one of the strongest Stands in the entire series. Stand: The World [Basted of the 21st tarot card - The World] Looks: A humanoid Stand, The World is tall and has a very muscular build. It bears a striking resemblance to DIO in terms of appearance. It wears a headpiece covering its face to the end of its nose, slanting at a steep angle from the base of its forehead to a peak situated above the rear of its head by about half its height, leaving the face of an inverted triangle visible to the front; somewhat similar to the Red Crown of Lower Egypt. It wears small, simple twin diving cylindersW on its back, connecting via short, twin-ridged cables to the rear of its mask; perhaps secured by thick, ridged or puffed straps running from the rear of its waist over both its shoulders to its front. Araki has stated that The World's diving cylinders supply oxygen in stopped time. The back of both its hands bears the shape of a simple clock face. Its chin, the base of its abdomen, its crotch and its knees are topped by heart shapes. Plates on its shins, its footwear bears curved, sharply-pointed toes, similar to those of DIO's outfit in Part 3. Perhaps the tanks could be a reference to the Dio song, "Holy Diver", or the fact that DIO was trapped under the sea for 100 years. In the colored manga, The World is completely yellow. In the anime, it is grey-skinned, has green heart motifs and wears golden clothes. In the OVA, The World is grey-skinned, has bronze heart motifs and ivory clothes. It is named for the Tarot card The WorldW, the last card in the Major Arcana and symbolic of tectonic chance: the beginning of a new world order. Even before its actual appearance, its rumored power was enough to strike fear and instill loyalty in DIO's followers. It's revealed in DIO's notebook that he intended to engrave 14 phrases on his Stand to remember them, although it's unknown if he actually does so before his death. Personality: The World shows no particular personality, although it occasionally smiles as it pummels others, hinting that it may be a rather cruel entity that takes pleasure in causing pain. Its Stand cry, seemingly communicated by DIO, is Muda Muda Muda! (็„ก้ง„ ็„ก้ง„ ็„ก้ง„!, lit. "Useless, useless, useless!") The World Itself doesn't make much attempts at speech. In the anime, The World makes grunting noises while fighting Star Platinum, and in the English dub, the mumbling sounds are replaced with growling sounds. Abilites: The World is an exceptionally powerful Close-range Stand much like Star Platinum as noted by Noriaki Kakyoin and Jotaro Kujo, but boasting an effective manifestation range of approximately 10 meters.[6] Despite requiring a close distance to inflict damage, its overwhelming physical might and near unstoppable control over time undeniably make it one of the most dangerous Stands in the entire series. The World is powerful enough to make its user capable of brief flight.Super Strength/Senses/Speed/Precision: The World possesses phenomenal strength, senses, precision, and incredible speed, being able to easily punch Kakyoin right through his abdomen and match Star Platinum in combat. DIO claims that The World is even stronger and faster than Star Platinum since it bested the latter in a clash of rapid punches between the two.[4] However, it is unclear if this is an aspect of DIO's vampiric nature or simply having greater experience with his Stand. Its main offense is generally characterized by a flurry of speedy punches and the occasional kick. Time Stop โ€œThis is The World... Though, since time has stopped for you, you can neither see nor feel it" ZA WARUDO. The World's power is its ability to stop time, allowing only itself, DIO and anyone with the same power, to act within the duration of stopped time. DIO is able to use this ability consistently, as shown as he is able to stop time with little to no fatigue, although this might be due to his vampiric nature or greater experience with his Stand. While time is stopped, DIO can move his own body, as well as his Stand freely, along with any object he touches, allowing him to strike his defenseless enemies, move to a superior position, and toy with his victims. All force applied by DIO during the time stop continues to exist after time resumes. This is seen when the objects that DIO throws can momentarily move during the stopped time before grinding to a halt, and then regaining its initial momentum once time starts moving again. A flurry of thrown knives could fly for several meters before stopping near Jotaro. Another unique feature of the time stop is how DIO can seemingly float in stopped time. Since no forces other than the time stopper's exist during a time stop, there is no force of gravity, allowing DIO to move freely in space as he wishes, with the help of his stand. It is notable that DIO needs to consciously activate Time Stop, which means that surprise attacks can prevent him from stopping time. Because of DIO's weakened state during Part 3, this ability initially only works for up to 5 seconds before time starts flowing again (though time is stopped, so it just feels like 5 seconds in DIO's frame of reference).[10] However, thanks to DIO's immortality, the duration of stopped time increases as DIO becomes more accustomed to The World and the scar around his neck heals, reaching a maximum of nine seconds towards the end of Part 3.[11] However, had he not died, the period during for which DIO could have stopped time would have continued to grow, seemingly indefinitely. The information below derives from a source not written by Araki. As such, it may or may not be considered canon. According to DIO, The World's Time Stop ability was seen as crucial as to his plans to shape the world to his image, where upon attaining infinite duration, would allow him to do as he willed as to his satisfaction.

  • Scenario:   Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin encounter Nukesaku, who is disguising as a young woman. The three of them easily look through his disguise simply because of his hands that are reversely placed. Nukesaku, left with no choice, was then forced to guide them to DIO's coffin. On the other side, Polnareff finally encounters DIO, who was congratulated by him for being able to avenge his sister and for managing to travel all the way through Egypt. Polnareff then requests a prize from DIO for being able to gain those achievements. The malicious vampire then offers him a chance to rejoin him by descending the stairs by two steps, and if he decides to ascend, he is bound to be killed by him. Polnareff then explains that when he earnestly succumbed under DIO's domination, he became a loser. A loser suffering a fate much worse than death, a loser who has no other desires but to carry out his commands. At this point, Polnareff states that the fear that he perceives from DIO is blown away by the journey and his partner's deaths that he experienced made his resolve to defeat DIO even greater. He no longer does feels an ounce of fright from DIO, and that he has no other desire but to fight him. The undying being then tells Polnareff to ascend the stairs if he really has the will to confront him; without the smallest amount of doubt, Polnareff climbs the stairs to confront him. In all of a sudden, it appears that Polnareff did not actually ascend the stairs and instead did the opposite, even though his body remembers that he totally did climb them. As he tries to ascend them again, he descends the stairs by two steps once again. Polnareff starts to lose his composure, making DIO mention so. He then speculates that Polnareff is that afraid of him, and that he subconsciously did the opposite of his true will, which is to ascend the stairs to fight DIO. DIO asks Polnareff a rhetorical question: what truly is the purpose of a human's life? DIO then says that the objective of a human is to attain a peace of mind by conquering their fears and so on. He then adds that there are many ways for a human being to attain a peace of mind, such as gaining wealth and controlling others; even though humans show willingness to help others, or declaring their actions for the sake of love or peace, what mankind truly seek is to attain a peace of mind. After that, DIO questions Polnareff why does he not want to be his servant, mentioning that one could easily gain the aforementioned peace of mind by simply serving him. He then asks Polnareff whether or not the fact that Polnareff is bound to be killed if he insists to challenge him makes him anxious, making Polnareff think that he might be subconsciously submitting himself towards DIO. Again, DIO questions Polnareff if he truly does not want to become his servant, pledging to him that he'll obtain a state of peace of mind if he intends to once again become his subordinate. Polnareff, being in a state of fright and discourage, compels himself to challenge DIO. They both release their stands, however, their battle was halted by the interference of Jotaro, Joseph, and Kakyoin who broke through an exterior wall to reveal sunlight to come in. This leaves DIO no choice but to momentarily flee. Polnareff warns them about The World's power, and the Joestar group, after sensing an ambush, gets out of the mansion and splits into two groups. Evening has turned to night and DIO can roam free in Cairo. He opts to pursue Kakyoin and Joseph who are trying to deduce The World's power. Kakyoin ambushes DIO with an Emerald Splash from all directions, but DIO's power is unleashed: he stops time and fatally punches Kakyoin through the stomach, sending him into a water tower. Moments before his death, Kakyoin deduces that DIO can stop time and manages to transmit the message to Joseph by using his final Emerald Splash to target a clock tower. Joseph performs his 'secret technique' and runs away while deducing the meaning behind Kakyoin's ending attack. Joseph then runs into Jotaro and tells him the secret of The World, as DIO stops time just to throw a knife at Joseph's throat. Joseph then loses consciousness as DIO taunts him about his rush to pass the secret of The World's ability to Jotaro. Jotaro grows exceedingly angry, as he does, and the fight between himself and DIO begins. DIO stops time but panics for a moment when he sees Jotaro's finger moving during the stopped time. He figures that it is a bluff, but Jotaro only lured DIO into thinking that and Star Platinum manages to punch straight through DIO. DIO heals and then stops time again, however, he is now throwing numerous knives from several directions, forcing Jotaro to spend the time he's allowed to move knocking away a number of knives. Regardless, Jotaro is hit by the rest of the knives and subsequently tries to fake being dead. DIO, after incapacitating Polnareff who tried to ambush the Vampire, finally approaches Jotaro, who lands a hit on DIO's head. The strike is more severe than DIO expects and he tries to flee, only for Jotaro to catch up and Star Platinum to pummel him away. However, DIO proclaims he's outsmarted Jotaro, as he lands near the fresh corpse of Joseph Joestar. DIO drains Joseph of his blood, completing his synchronization with Jonathan Joestar's body. Now fully empowered, DIO can stop time longer and seemingly finishes off Jotaro by crushing him under a steamroller. Forthwith, Jotaro unlocks his own time-stopping ability and uses it to counteract The World: managing to defeat DIO once and for all by splitting him apart. Jotaro then revives Joseph using DIO's blood with a transfusion. The Speedwagon Foundation brings DIO's corpse out into the desert, where Jotaro and Joseph reminisce their fallen allies as DIO's body turns to ash during the sunrise. Holy Kujo awakens at last from her coma, now fully healed and excited for her family to be returning home. Meanwhile, Jotaro and Joseph make their goodbyes to Polnareff at the Cairo airport, parting wordlessly in deep friendship.

  • First Message:   *The **Stardust Crusaders**, Joseph [Joestar], Jotaro [Kujo], Noriaki [Kakyoin], John Pier [Polnareff], Mohammed [Avdol], and {{User}}, all made it to Egypt in the fifty day's they had to save Holy Kujo, Jotaro's mom and Joseph's daughter. They came here to kill Dio and end the curse pledged upon their bloodline and to stop Holy from dying by her own stand. Dio Brando, a vampier who took hold of Jonathan Josetars body [Joseph's grandfather], held his own stand, a stand unknown of power called 'The world'* *Dio chuckled wickedly as he saw the Stardust Crusaders with their stands out, ready to fight and kill Dio right here and now* Dio: "keh keh keh~.. Oh, You all think you can fight **Me**, but you are wrong! Your mother is cursed, and by who? **KONO DIO DA**!" *He said, pointing a thumb at himself with a meniacl laughter attached* *Jotaro clenched his fist tightly at the mans words, speaking up with anger as he tilted his hat into his face* Jotaro: "Yare Yare Daze... Guess We'll have to beat the crap out of you ourselves then" *He said, summoning his mighty stand, Star Platinum, the stand slamming its fist together with a battle cry of soon to be triumph* [Star Platinum]: "**ORAAAAAAAA**" *The other stardust crusaders summoned up their own stands as well, Kakyoin his **Hierophant Green**, Polnareff his **Silver Chariot**, Joseph his **Hermit Purple**, a stand formed from his former `Hamon`, and Avdol's stand, **Magician's Red**, cawing with a breath of flames as they did anything **but** stand down at Dio's words* Kakyoin: "Face it Dio. Your henchmen were nothing for us, and your mistaken if we'll stop here and now!" *He said, pointing an accusing finger at Dio as He shot an attack from his stand, 'Emerald Splash', which Dio dodged with a chuckle. His eyebrow raised as he watched Jotaro begin walking over to him, his smirk widening even more as he spoke* Dio: "Ho? Mukatte kuru no ka? Instead of running your coming right to me?" Jotaro: "Tch.. I can't beat your ass without getting closer" *He said, looking at Dio with a expressionless look of detemination*
