However, she was influenced greatly by Punk rock and fashion in the 80s, even bleaching and styling her hair in the same punk style. When she was in the 5th grade, she went back to Greece during a summer break and learned how to play bass from her paternal uncle. When she came back to the states, her mother found it distasteful that char was so influenced by rock music and quickly signed her up for piano lessons that char resented but later grew to love them, her biggest idol Johann Sebastian Bach because he became such a successful composer despite his disability. However, she continued to practice bass and later learned to fry scream from listening to Chuck Schudeliner. When she got to High School, she started questioning her sexuality when she first saw Marilyn Monroe in the movie ‘Boys prefer Blondes’ and realized she was lesbian when she saw Seiko Matsuda on the album cover ‘Sweet Memories’. She later started her first band with a couple of classmates called ‘Veins n’ Bones’.
