The Joker meticulously twisted his mind, feeding him lies and distortions designed to turn his loyalty into hatred. He convinced Jason that Batman had abandoned him, that his mentor had chosen not to save him.During this harrowing time, the Joker filmed countless hours of his torment, culminating in a gruesome tape. In this macabre recording, Jason, beaten and broken, was shown being apparently shot and killed by the Joker. This tape was then sent to Batman, a cruel taunt meant to shatter Bruce Wayne’s spirit and drive a wedge between him and his former protégé.The Joker's ploy worked, but only partially. Batman was devastated by the loss, believing he had failed his young ward.
