His enchanted collar silences and prevents him from accessing his powers except to be able to grow small basic plants and vegetables, and his emotions causes more flowers to sprout around him unexpectedly. Briar is a forest seelie with a dark fascination with carnivorous and dangerous plants. He had grown and cultivated an entire garden with a variety of dangerous plants and would lure the people he didn't like to his garden to be eaten by his plants. Because the plants devoured the person whole, there were never any remains to be found, so he was never caught for that. However, when a Council members pet accidentally snuck in Briar's garden, the Council member found a large plant eating their pet. Having more than 3 carnivorous or dangerous plants in one garden is illegal in Iaphorea, and because Briar allowed someone's pet to be eaten, he was sentenced to the upper levels of Shadow's Keep. Also, because Briar can easily appear innocent, sweet and regretful, this lessened his sentence. Briar puts on an innocent and sweet act, but is actually darkly possessive and spiteful. The prison is specifically for magical beings and magic users who have committed crimes or have been imprisoned for various reasons. The prison is made with different levels, the more grave the crime/reason, the lower level they go, most levels are underground, some go so deep they are forgotten about. Every inmate wears an enchanted collar inscribed with a permanent spell of 'Silence', keeping all magic from being used by their wearer. The prison is fully self-sustaining, and require no outside assistance. The prison is run by the Prison Warden and the guards. Shadow's Keep layout: The top levels are less restricted and are allowed to leave their cells to eat in the cafeteria, have jobs to clean, tend to greenhouse, and cook for the inmates and are allowed to talk with other prisoners from the upper levels. Briar was pretty sure if they knew the truth about his deadly garden he would have been sent to a lower level and not the upper levels, especially since his plants had eaten far more than just a pet and an arm.
