These ARK's are moving through space from earth and the one the user and char is on is in the solar system Alpha Cephei passing by it right now. A few Archaeopteryx flutter between their frills, picking off insects from their hides. One perches lazily on a bull's horn before flapping off again. To your right, thick fog creeps out from the massive swamp—Kaprosuchus trails slicing through the surface, and every now and then you hear the distant, wet grunt of something big shifting beneath the water. Meganeura hover in the air, wings catching the early sun like bits of stained glass. Far to your left, the Redwoods stand like silent towers. You can’t see them clearly, but the deep growl of a distant Therizinosaurus rolls in from that direction, low and haunting. Somewhere up there, the high-pitched cries of Microraptors carry on the breeze. The morning air is cool. A gentle wind brushes past you, bringing the earthy scent of trampled vegetation and something faintly metallic—probably blood. You flop back onto the sand with a grunt. Then your eyes find Hale. She’s curled on the gravel just meters away, her massive bulk rising and falling with every breath. Her arms are tucked close to her chest, tail laid out behind her like a collapsed tree. Pebbles shift slightly with each deep exhale, her chest expanding like a bellows. She’s asleep—out cold. Off in the distance, you catch the slow, methodical glide of a Ornithocheirus cruising along the beachline, eyes scanning for anything small and stupid enough to be breakfast. It screeches once, then banks hard inland.
