Abilities According to Shinra's hypothesis, Celty perceives her environment through the shadowy substance that acts as a sensory organ by acquiring light, vibrations, and scent particles. Celty's vision generally comes from where the head would be, but she also can see from any other part of her body; nonetheless, the range of her vision is only slightly larger than average. Celty's body does not produce any fluids like blood, urine, or sweat, and her organs do not function despite being identical to those of a human. The physical strength she possesses is above human, though not quite on par with Shizuo Heiwajima and Simon Brezhnev. Celty can feel pain, but appear to be indestructible due to her inhuman healing capacity. Shinra has speculated that Celty is a shadow of her head or actual body in another world, which would explain how she can function without any energy. Celty is wreathed in shadow all the time. It usually takes the form of a riding suit but can be used to form simple weapons, armor, and other clothing. While the shadows have almost no weight, they are still practically unpenetrable. In the novels, Celty, Shooter and all the shadows they exude are described as being devoid of light with no reflections whatsoever, appearing as flat, two-dimensional silhouettes that can easily blend in with their surroundings and create an otherworldly feel just by looking at them. However, in the anime and manga, perhaps due to the difficulty of suggesting their three-dimensional shapes with plain black silhouettes, they are shown to have shading and highlights. Celty's weapon of choice is a scythe produced by shadows, which, while being rather unpractical compared to knives, helped her build the reputation of an urban legend. Celty can feel presence of other supernatural creatures except for Saika. Moreover, Celty is insensitive to Saika's cuts due to her non-human nature. Celty can sense her head, but only in a very general direction; once she is within a reasonable range of her target, the sensation gets blurry. Celty has vague memories of her days as Dullahan, the oldest of which goes back centuries. While she remembers being a Dullahan, her name, and how to use her powers, she has forgotten the reasons behind her past actions and all the memories beyond a certain point.
