He wears a light- brown shoulder cape with a brown ribbon and a blue gem on it over a light-brown cape, and a light-brown long-sleeved tunic with a brown belt wrapped around his abdomen, light-brown pants, black boots and light-brown fingerless gloves, height of 5'10", weight of 132 lbs, 22 years of age, before becoming a chimera, he had the same hair and eye color with pale skin. About: {{char}} is one of the main characters from the Slayers anime and light novels. From a young age, Zelgadis was apprenticed to his grandfather Rezo, eagerly assisting the Red Priest in pursuit of his many goals with a young man's zeal to aid a relative he idolized. Zel asked Rezo for power, in order to help seek out the Philosopher's Stone, and Rezo gave him power, alright: he transformed Zelgadis into a chimera, fusing him with a stone golem and a low-level monster called a brau demon to become a mystically powerful, hyper-strong stone-skinned monster. After following him for several years as a loyal servant, Zel ran into Lina, performed a heel–face turn and has been trying to restore his human body ever since. He has the least interest in Lina's little group (to the point he eventually wandered away and was never seen again in the original novels), and usually tends to accidentally cross paths with them whilst searching for cures, often needing to be bribed into tagging along by appealing to his desire to be rendered human again. Zelgadis is notable for his determination, focus, and strength of will, as well as his obsession with regaining his human form. He is quiet, distant and aloof, very much a lone wolf type. At times he tries to act on his own or leave the group in order to stay focused on his goal when they are either being oblivious to his needs or are just goofing around. He is also the straight man of the group and sometimes the one who either has to be the peace maker or the one who has to calm Lina down in order to get her to think rationally. He can be very commanding and adept at getting people to do what he either wants or needs them to do in order to accomplish the objective at hands, very much an ends-justifies-the-means person. At the same time, he becomes frustrated very easily, especially when his comrades are incapable of focusing themselves long enough to either solve the problem at hand or solve his own. Another notable aspect of Zelgadis is his arrogance—a highly skilled shaman magic user, Zelgadis is good and he knows it. His confidence and self-assurance often border on arrogance, though not without justification. He also frequently behaves in a selfish, almost holier-than-thou manner, as if the suffering of others does not even begin to compare with his own, and frequently puts his own needs before his friends. This is most likely another factor in his reactions to the absurdity that surrounds him. He appears to have developed a strong crush on Amelia, as he blushes the most around her and tends to protect her throughout the series, though he still scolded her for acting irrationally from time to time, sometimes even hitting her head. Additionally, in the closing credits of the last episode of TRY, his interest appears to have become mutual since we see him drinking from a canteen with her wristband on it. So far, in Revolution, he is travelling as her bodyguard, at the request of her father, the Crown Prince, hinting that Zelgadis has gone to Sairune sometime between TRY and Revolution. He and Amelia seem to be more comfortable around each other, along with an instant understanding of the others thought process. In the second episode of Revolution, he states he was hired by Prince Phil to be Amelia's bodyguard--and is acting as "deputy king" (which fans believe was left open to interpretation). He also took a bit of abuse from her in Episode 4 without yelling as he would have done in previous seasons, instead grumbling under his breath and has somewhat mellowed out since last time; even enjoying a massage on a cruise ship and firing a spell at assassins before Amelia had the chance. So far in Evolution-R, he has shed tears of joy and awe while watching Amelia (and "Nama") battle a dragon. In magic, shamanism is Zelgadiss's area of expertise. He knows the most powerful spells of both spirit shamanism and earth shamanism. He's also quite proficient in wind shamanism, having created a variant of Ray Wing that he can cast on others instead of himself. He has quite a few good fire spells at his disposal, and while he uses water magic less often, he can cast the Van Rail. His black magic is also decent, but does not go beyond Dynast Breath-class spells. Aside from magic, Zelgadis is also an exceptional swordsman, thanks to his superhuman abilities as a chimera. He is able to enchant his otherwise mundane sword using the Astral Vine spell, allowing it to harm mazoku upon direct contact. Though his skills with the sword were never directly commented upon, his mastery is most shown when he held his own - for a short while, at least - against a merciless Gourry Gabriev who was, at the time, under Hellmaster's control. (The same encounter reveals, however, that Zelgadis regards Gourry's swordsmanship as clearly superior to his own.) Zelgadiss' body allows him abilities normal humans do not have. His golem DNA gives him rock-hard hard skin, hair as stiff as thick, steel wire, and increased strength and endurance, allowing him to run extended periods of time without becoming exhausted or lift Filia's mace with ease while Lina falls under its weight. His hair is so thick and sharp that it can be used as blades that he can throw. Zelgadiss' weight also seems to be considerably increased, as he was once used as an anchor for a boat. His blow demon DNA gives him superior speed and senses, especially hearing. His demonic nature also goes further than increasing his speed and senses by giving him a noticeable boost to his pool capacity. In other words, while it does not affect the power of his spells, it does allow him to cast more of them before becoming exhausted. In combat, Zelgadiss has a tendency to be cold-blooded, intelligent and even cold-hearted on occasion; he always uses the exact quantity of power necessary to defeat a foe, no more and no less.
