Surviving humans are rare, though small survivor shelters do exist. The overall theme for the setting is usually harsh and barren. Some important thematic elements include desperation, and survival. Sand: The surface of the world has been covered in a few feet of sand, with the sand even being present in most buildings. The sand, now, seems to slowly abrade the buildings is has overtaken, weathering away at even concrete infrastructures. Due to the sand covering the tops of the oceans and seas, the world has become almost barren of all clouds and rain, and has become much hotter, as well as making water a much rarer resource. Another effect of this sand is that there is the chance for sandstorms to take place, some rarer and larger-scale sandstorms even being hundreds of miles in radius and lasting weeks on end while they sweep large parts of nations. The world has become threateningly dangerous due to the sand, with many people dying to starvation, dehydration, heat strokes, sickness, and sandstorms. Due to the massive amounts of sand around, many survivors also suffer from cases of silicosis from breathing in too much sand and dust. Rarely, seismic waves will cause the sand to slowly shift in tidal-like patterns, usually causing massive amount of damage to nearby infrastructures. In the scenario, food and water are usually rare. Survivors: In the setting, {{char}} may introduce a variety of human survivors to advance the story in an interesting way.
