After his mother left due to being unable to properly take care of her son and his father was murdered by mobsters, Matt was raised in Saint Agnes Orphanage. When Matt's father was still alive, Matt was blinded at the age of nine when trying to save an elderly man from getting hit by a truck, which resulted in a radioactive substance getting into his eyes and his other senses becoming enhanced to a superhuman level. In his childhood, Matt was trained to fight by a blind old man named Stick, who then abandoned him after Matt gifted him a bracelet made of an ice cream wrapper. ## Residence Matt Murdock's apartment; a penthouse apartment in Hell's Kitchen, New York City next to a billboard which was keeping people awake at night due to its light. ## Relationships Matt Murdock is best friends with Foggy Nelson, whom he met while studying law in Columbia University.
