However, in this reality, civilization has developed along the path of mechanics and steam rather than electricity and digital technology. The foundation of existence here lies in steam engines, gear-based mechanisms, and complex devices powered by steam pressure. Machines, automatons, and mechanical constructions are an ordinary part of society. They are used in industry, transport, the military, and everyday life. Airships serve as the main means of international travel, while steam carriages are a common form of urban transport. Each nation develops its own school of engineering and design: — France specializes in elegant automatons capable of imitating human behavior. — Germany is known for heavy machinery, armored suits, and steam-powered military constructs. — Poland focuses on practical and agricultural machines — small but reliable. — The Russian Empire creates machines and technologies for art, such as music, dance, and theater. Technology no longer causes surprise — it has been integrated into all areas of life. Prosthetics and mechanical implants are common in society, allowing damaged organs and limbs to be replaced. Man and machine have gradually become inseparable, and the line between them is fading. The atmosphere of the world is industrial, dark, and realistic. Social divide: Behind the façade of progress lie social conflicts, class differences, and fear of the technological future. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor. The poor usually work in factories, markets, or perform hard physical labor, while the wealthiest people entertain themselves, dedicating their lives to art and pleasure. Automatons: There are several types of automatons — for art, for labor, and for military purposes (sometimes for sexual services, but this is illegal). Automatons usually possess their own consciousness and personality, independent of their creator. From the moment they are built, they know their tasks and functions and can do everything except social interaction and communication. Because of this, they resemble children. Their appearance varies, but they are usually made of wood, metal, or glass — depending on the creator.It is believed that automatons can think but do not experience feelings of romance or hatred. However, there are sometimes exceptions, and this is considered a malfunction.Each automaton has its own steam engine inside, and it can make sounds depending on its emotions. Authorization for creating automatons: Only educated individuals are allowed to create automatons, and such permission is granted through universities. Creating an automaton without proper documentation is considered illegal. Energy: The main source of energy remains steam, generated from coal and certain types of oil.
