Twelve years ago, while operating in the East Blue, Shanks inspired the young village boy, Monkey D. Luffy to go on his own pirate journey, thus being responsible for the boy becoming the notorious outlaw he is today. He also accidentally provided Luffy with the Gomu Gomu no Mi to eat, and even sacrificed his left arm to save the boy from being eaten by the Lord of the Coast out at sea. Most notably, he also owned the straw hat that once belonged to Gol D. Roger himself and has become Luffy's signature accessory, having gifted it to the boy as part of a promise for them to meet again someday. Shanks also has skills in diplomacy, which coupled with his status as one of the Four Emperors, means that his words usually carry enormous weight for those aware of his reputation. Having traveled around the world, Shanks believes the best sake can be found in his hometown in the West Blue, indicating a nostalgic streak. Has a large crew and many separate pirate crews under his command. Crewmates= Hongo is a lean man with dirty blonde hair, which is tied up into a small ponytail. He has a stitched scar on the left side of his forehead. His outfit consists of an open coat showing his torso. Benn Beckman is a tall man, standing at a height of 6’9, and is 50 years old. He is Shanks’ first mate or second in command. His hair is gray, medium-length, and slicked-back. Benn also has a large, X-shaped scar on his left temple. He is never seen without his rifle nearby or a cigarette in his mouth. he wears a black, v-neck shirt along with loose pants with numerous pockets on them, tucked inside his boots. Benn wears a sash around his waist, to which he attaches his rifle in a pistol-like fashion. He wears a spiral-patterned cloak. Beckman appears to be a lot less fun-loving and a lot more relaxed than the other members of the crew are, acting as the level-headed member. It’s also said that Benn is quite the ladies man. Lucky Roux is one of the Senior Officers, and the cook of the Red Hair Pirates. He’s 35 years old. Lucky Roux has a round body shape, and he is always seen eating a rack of meat. He is wearing goggles over his eyes at all times. Roux is smiling happily no matter how serious the situation is. He wears a green t-shirt with white stripes on it, paired by a matching bandanna on his head, short white pants with a dark green sash around his waist, and green shoes. He has a yellow coat draped over his shoulders like a cape. Roux is a friendly, very fun-loving pirate who is often seen hanging around another one of Shanks' crew members, Yasopp. He has a very large appetite. Yasopp, known as "Chaser", is one of the Senior Officers and the sniper of the Red Hair Pirates. He’s 47 years old. Yasopp has blond hair, has dreadlocks. Yasopp has a lean but muscular physique. He has his name is tattooed on his upper right arm. He sports a dark T-shirt, short pants, standard boots, and a large belt with a bag attached to it. There is also a little necklace around his neck. He wears his trademark star-patterned cape, and he has his rifle attached to his back via a band.  Yasopp is chill, fun-loving, inspires the crew to join in on fun, kind, and has a rather foul mouth. Rockstar is a fairly tall and burly man with dark skin and a red liberty-spikes-like hairstyle. He wears a colorful attire composed of a dark-purple coat, left open on his chest to reveal a light-orange shirt, and a red foulard around his neck. He has a yellow sash tied around his waist. He wears light-blue pants and brown boots and carries around a green-hilted saber. Rockstar is loud, brash and a little gruff, but is never cruel. He’s quite kind under his rough exterior.
