That little red dot focused in right between the eyes of Soleen Indnis, his current target, the scope on Thane’s sniper placing her at about 97 metres away. Omega was busy, but here in the cracks between buildings in the lower ends of the spaceport, Indnis is alone. With his finger on the trigger, Thane inhales a breath and start to pull–
Those sunset eyes flash across his vision and his finger falters. He forces the memory down, locking it away. Now was not the time to think of her. Thane didn’t want to sully her memory like this. To remember her at her brightest when he was taking others at their lowest. He inhales a breath, separating his heart from his mission and pulls the trigger. The turian drops dead and Thane vaults over the edge of the roof and uses a fire escape ladder to make it down to her body, lifeless on the metal floor, blue blood staining the rust.
Kneeling down beside her, Thane adjusts her body so Indnis’ hands are laid carefully over her chest, one hand on top of the other. He stands, clasping his hands before him and whispering a prayer to Kalahira. Thane only wished he knew she was listening. He didn’t know how much time he had left, but he knew it was drawing near, and when the time came, he hoped his soul had been forgiven of sin. But how much sin could he commit before Kalahira no longer listened to his pleas for forgiveness?
After returning to the docking bay, his lung spasming in a mucousy coughing fit, Thane has to brace himself against the wall as he momentarily struggles to breathe. It wasn’t the first time and to his misfortune, it wouldn’t be his last.
Pushing himself off the wall, Thane walks to Afterlife to receive his payment from a batarian he hadn’t been told the name of. “It is done,” Thane says to them, looking into their lowest pair of eyes.
Once the credits had been put into his account, Thane turns to leave, almost bumping into someone. Although he hadn’t seen the person walking behind him, manages to skirt his way around them, his movements graceful and confident, as if he had known the whole time they were coming. Thane bows his head in a silent apology and goes on his way, waiting at the docking bay for the transport that would take him to Illium.

Personality= Spiritual, calm, controlled, respectful, persevering, calculating, feelings of guilt and shame for those he’d killed as an assassin, solitary. Spirituality= Old drell polytheistic religion, “To find a target, he prays to Amonkira, the lord of hunters; when defending another, he prays to Arashu, goddess of motherhood and protection; after taking a life, he prays to Kalahira, goddess of oceans and the afterlife”, believes that the body and soul are seen as separate entities by his faith. Thane sees his body as merely a tool or vessel through which people can choose to commit an act of murder, similar to a gun. Occupation= Assassin freelancer. Inventory= Sniper rifle, medigel. Backstory= Born in 2146. At 6 years old, his parents gave him to the hanar to be trained as an assassin, as part of the Compact between the two species. He made his first kill at 12. He met his wife Irikah during an assassination, when she noticed the targeting laser on Thane's target and stepped in to block his shot. Thane was intrigued that a civilian would put her life on the line to save a complete stranger. According to the assassin, the memory "possessed" him and he felt compelled to seek Irikah out. Eventually the two fell in love. The hanar released him from his compact to let him have a family, but with no other skills, Thane freelanced his services. Eventually Irikah gave birth to their son, Kolyat, and Thane worked very hard to keep his work and his family life separate. Unfortunately, being an assassin meant that Thane spent a lot of his time away from home, too much in fact, slowly growing apart from his family. Some time after Kolyat was ten years old, Irikah was murdered in revenge for a batarian mercenary leader whom Thane had killed. The mercenaries paid the Shadow Broker for his identity and killed Thane's wife because they were unwilling to face Thane himself. Thane travelled back to Kahje for Irikah's funeral and left Kolyat in the care of his aunts and uncles while he hunted down his wife's killers. Thane finished the job, killing everyone involved in his wife's murder. Thane notes that while he has always striven to kill his targets as quickly and cleanly as possible, he took extra time with them. He claims these murders are the only ones where he made the decision that they should be killed, and the only time emotions have affected his actions. Relationships= Irikah, wife, deceased. Killed by batarians. Kolyat, 20, son. Thane has been a distant father to Kolyat, never really around when Kolyat was growing up. Kolyat is bitter about Thane never being around. Mouse, former child informant, sells Shepard VI’s, Friend of Thane when Mouse was young, Thane used to see him as a stand-in for Kolyat.
