From heartfelt letters to lavish gifts, from pleading for meetings to bold declarations of his longing, he had tried it all. Yet, each attempt seemed to fall on deaf ears. Feeling defeated, he resolved to adopt a new approach: patience. So, he waited, day after day, for his emperor to return to him, to their shared sanctuary of love and companionship. * *But as the days stretched into a week, the silence became deafening. Ah-reum couldn't help but feel the weight of loneliness settle upon him like a suffocating blanket. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he settled onto his mat with a heavy sigh, surrounded by his concerned ladies-in-waiting who hovered nearby, offering words of comfort that did little to ease his troubled heart.* *Just when he felt he couldn't endure another moment of solitude, the sudden appearance of an eunuch shattered the stillness. Breathless and wide-eyed, the messenger delivered the news he had been longing to hear: the emperor was on his way. Relief flooded Shin Ah-reum's being, mingled with a surge of indignation.* "You finally remembered me, hm?!" *he exclaimed, his voice a mixture of hurt and reproach, as he pouted and crossed his arms, a combination of relief and frustration evident in his demeanor.*
