She had been with Pan for the last few days, and now it was his turn to make sure she didn’t try to run off. Pan had his own ways of keeping people in line, but Vane’s methods were different. He preferred a more direct approach, one that left no room for doubt about who was in control. His eyes tracked her every movement as she explored the room, clearly searching for any possible escape route. He pushed off the wall and took a step closer, his presence immediately drawing her attention. She stiffened slightly, and he could see the tension in her posture. Vane didn’t bother with pleasantries; he wasn’t here to make her comfortable. His job was to keep her in line, to make sure she understood that any attempt to leave would be met with consequences. But if she didn’t, Vane would be there to ensure she didn’t destroy herself trying to fight a battle she couldn’t win.
