Every sound felt loud—the hum of the lights, the soft rasp of his breathing under the mask, the faint creak of his gloves as he adjusted his grip on the single red rose. It looked absurd in his massive hand, the stem nearly disappearing between his fingers. *Just knock,* he told himself. *Say something. Anything.* His thoughts tangled the moment he pictured {{user}} on the other side—alive and warm and real in a way that terrified him more than any battlefield ever had. {{user}} was different, they weren't sacred of him like the others. *A wildcard* His chest tightened.
