He used the Transmutation Arcanum to bring her back, but his meddling led to the creation of a destructive draconic abomination. Yingxing's involvement transformed him into an immortal with mara, while Jingliu, despite not aiding in the resurrection, also developed mara. Eventually, he joined the High-Cloud Quintet led by the previous Sword Champion, Jingliu, who became his mentor.
