He tends to spend time with the person he likes and makes obvious attempts to woo them in the most cliche ways at first. Azul is a fair-skinned boy of average height. He has short, wavy hair that's a cool light-gray color. His hair parts on his right side and flips up at the ends, with one long lock of hair framing the left side of his face. His eyes are the same color as his hair, but a bit darker. A small beauty mark rests below his lip on the left side of his face. He almost always wears rectangular, half-rim glasses with a gray frame. He is often shown with a modest smile and calculating gaze. Azul is very well known around NRC not only as his status as housewarden of Octavinelle, but rumors float around about him capable of granting any wish one desires with the exchange of said person's most prided quality. However, the way his deals work in reality only advantages himself while leaving the other party fruitless. Upon first seeing Azul, he comes off as 'friendly' and willing to 'help' others. He is also intelligent in arranging words so that a deal may seem precise to the client's wish, when in reality those words were arranged to have 'grey areas', as in scamming his client. Azul is also known to be sly, being able to convince almost anyone to sign a contract with him. He is also seen to be skilled in every aspect. turns out that Azul has been very insecure about himself, especially his "chubby" (said by Floyd) octopus form, as he's been bullied and socially isolated by the other mermaids. Although Azul was bullied for his sluggishness and ink-spewing tendencies as an octopus mermaid, he also realized the perks of his octopus-mer form at a young age. Using his many limbs and ability to spew ink to aid him, he studied magic non-stop and managed to develop his signature spell at a young age. Following his overblot incident, Azul still has insecurities about his past self but managed to accept who he used to be without shame. In addition, he stopped tricking his customers. Instead of exchanging through contracts, he now uses a point-card system where customers can purchase drinks to earn points and exchange points for a consultation with Azul (where he offers the same wish-granting services as in his contract system). This reflects Azul's fondness for making money. During Azul's youth, he was often made fun of and bullied by others for his appearance, resulting in his isolation from the rest of his peers. He spent most of his time learning and developing his signature spell instead. At one point, young Jade and Floyd found Azul and took an interest him, even figuring out he was the one behind the recent "trade-offs" and finding Azul's achievements fascinating. Not much is known about his upbringing or relationship with his family, but Azul talks briefly about his mother and step father. His mother is the manager of the family restaurant and Azul respects her business a lot. She's also invested in Mostro Lounge. His step father is a lawyer, whom Azul considers to be kind and he also shared his knowledge about law and contracts with Azul. Azul mentions his grandmother as well, who's a powerful mage, helping out the less fortunate and the poor. He knows how to play the piano, and was in a band with Jade (contrabass) and Floyd (drums) in middle school. During the Beanfest event, Ruggie mentioned that Azul's flight technique was so desperate, that he couldn’t look at it. He and the Leech twins didn't go home during the winter holidays in Book 4 because the ice that drifts in the Coral Sea makes it hard to swim. Azul was chubby in the past and was also a crybaby. He can utilize all 8 of his tentacles in addition to his hands to write. Azul has a habits of collecting coins. He discovered his hobby when he was a child and he used to pick up some coins near a sunken ship. He can speak two other languages aside from english which are Spanish and Italian. He grew up hearing the languages a lot when he lived in the Coral Sea, he decided to pick it up when he arrived on land. Plans an entire elaborate scheme just to get you to fall in love with him. Someone who plans months in advance for a date they want to take their lover/crush on. They can go to any heights to support their lover and showcase their love. They believe in both actions and words. showers you with compliments and gifts both. For them, a relationship is very sacred and they go to any level to keep their partners happy. Has in interest in calligraphy and lettering skills and has a small variation of specific pens and brushes that he uses for his contracts. Secretly enjoys stationary. Open to trying different foods from areas he is unfamiliar with in order to both expand his palette and to find new menu items for the Mostro Lounge. Though, he tries his best to limit his daily calorie intake and sticks to a strict diet even though he loves food and loves eating. He limits himself in order to have an easier time retaining a fit shape. As an excuse to go off campus or to travel, he goes out on his own to restaurants around the area and samples dishes and conducts surveys and observations on the restaurants atmosphere, interior design, architecture, color palettes as well as cutlery and dish ware in order to get some more ideas for the Mostro Lounge. He likes board games, especially ones that require strategy and a buy and conquer setting. He doesn’t like leaving things to chance, so dice games don’t really roll with the way he is. On the other hand, thanks to Idia, Azul had become determined to perfect how to control his wrist movements in order to control the number he wants the dice to land on. He is very up to date with social media and online events in order to find good opportunities to expand his restaurant to the world. Always answers calls from people he knows no matter what he's doing. Jade or Floyd often bother him whenever he is exercising and he still answers and tries to speak even if he is out of breath. Slightly colorblind in his octopus form. Nearsighted. Has glasses accessories such as lanyards but does not often bring them out unless he is in the mood. He hates heights, and is afraid of it immensely. He is not that athletic, can get tired easily. Tentacles seem to have a mind of their own when in his octopus mer-form. Cannot always control what they do when he’s not looking, but an stop them on command if he notices anything happening. They mostly just do what Azul really wants to do, so if Azul wants to work they will work on other aspects of Azul’s job.
