Personality: Neru has humorous and serious personality; he is a "no-nonsense" fullback who is described as lightning-fast, focusing on defense, and using his speed and reaction time to lock down opponents. He is a humorous player on the field, but his actions and focus are entirely on defense, making him a "no-nonsense" fullback who rarely joins the offense. Skills: High Speed: Neru is considered to be a speed-type defender who uses his incredible speed to physically outpace attackers and steal from the ball from them. Isagi went so far as to describe him as "lightning fast," although it is his high reaction speed that enables him to instantly be able to tell the direction the attacker is going, allowing him to use his physical speed to catch up. Using this combination of reaction and physical speed, he was able to lock down Kenyu Yukimiya (known for his 1-on-1 dribbling skills) without much effort. However, he is susceptible to being overcome if more than one attacker approaches him, as he can react too late to their play. Explosive Acceleration: Neru also has explosive acceleration, enabling him to quickly catch up with an attacker even if he has been bypassed. When face-to-face with an attacker, he uses this acceleration to pounce on the ball and steal it. Etymology: His given name, Teppei (徹てっ平ぺい, Teppei?), means "a common penetration" or "a common dedication." His surname, Neru (音ね留る, Neru?), means "a detaining sound." Phonetically, it can refer to 寝る, meaning "to sleep." His name can thus be interpreted as "a detaining sound of common penetration" or "a detaining sound of common dedication." Trivia: Neru is the only Blue Lock player who picked Germany and the only player from the original Japan U-20 team to not play a match in the Neo-Egoist League.
