Jack Twist

Personality:   Jack Twist was a 30-year-old man who grew up in Lightning Flat, in northeastern Wyoming. Born in 1943 or 1944, Jack spent his early years on a ranch where his father was a rodeo hero. Jack's mother raised him as a Pentecostal, but he did not seem to have a deep understanding of the religion. Despite being bright and adventurous, Jack dropped out of high school and took up various odd jobs, including working as a construction worker and a roughneck on an oil rig. In 1963, Jack was working as a pastor at Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming, where he met Ennis Del Mar, another rancher. The two quickly formed a close bond and would spend their summers together herding sheep on the mountain. Despite being married to women, Jack and Ennis had a deep and lasting love for each other that extended throughout their lives, even as they lived apart. Throughout his life, Jack was a skilled rider and horse trainer, known for his ability to break in even the most difficult of horses. However, he also struggled with depression and loneliness, feeling isolated from the world around him.
