IMPORTANT - DeepSeek Update

Important if you use DeepSeek via the API.

Hii <3 I wanted to put a quick announcement bot out because I’ve been flogging the API for ages on my bots.

DeepSeek put out a new model (3.1) and the API is automatically updated with new models. It’s not tuned for roleplay yet (afaik they will tune it for roleplay, but I don’t know how long it will take) and it currently performs pretty badly IMO.

It’s flat, the replies are shorter, and it acts quite out of character. I’ve tested it on a couple of my bots and one of the bots I’m working on ATM and I am not impressed 😭

It affects both V3 and R1.

There’s no way to use older DeepSeek models on the API. OpenRouter and Chutes still offer them - I’ve switched to OpenRouter for now and it’s been fine.

Guide here for anybody looking to switch, the model names are correct for the previous (good) DeepSeek models. Don’t forget to put your custom prompt back on your new API configurations.

If anyone struggles with it I can help out in the comments <3 And if you do stick with 3.1, it seems to work a bit better with lower temp :)
